I must first off apologise for the poor quality of these shots, there are a number of factors contributing:
- it wasn't the sunniest day and so the lighting was poor, however due to time constraints (my gran's cancer diagnosis for example) and the fact that I work during the week, means that I was forced to take the photos on a less than ideal day (note the insane HDR-like effect of the sunlit cloudy sky)
- I had to compress them to a level where I could send them via e-mail to friends and family, but I don't have a copy of the originals here at work; plus they're effing huge to upload
Anyway, here we go:

http://i1.tinypic.com/opa0bm.jpgThe very pleasant, accessible and cheerful public swimming pool. Unfortunately, since Australians as a whole are sport-daft, there are often water polo games that - as far as I can ascertain - begin around 6am in the morning and end around 8pm at night, or thereabouts. Basically, there's occasionally a klaxon going off and whistles and shouts and cheers, but it's quite unobtrusive ... except on Saturday mornings.
Our apartment block, close to the local public pool, is in a very greek flavoured part of the neighbourhood (we live in the Greek quarter of Brisbane, close to an Orthodox church, a huge greek club and a temple-esque Hellenic House where all the old Greeks hang out and drink ouzo and brilliantly strong coffee.

So that's all for now, hope you enjoyed those.

Your wife looks kinda fat.
Seriously though, that looks like a nice place to live. :thumb:

She's pregnant you idiot.
Nice pics Scots. Far cry from anywhere in Scotland I'll wager. Looks lovely. I'm so tempted to move.

Very nice, but the "..get laid" over the school sign lowers the tone somewhat ;)
What is the driving like over there, Scots? I've heard that it can be more aggressive than British driving, which I find hard to believe.

Hehe, bet I'd be involved in quite a few traffic violations/accidents for driving on the wrong side of the road if I went there :)
I'd love to visit... that's a beautiful sunset.

Yeah, I love that sign.
Anyway, sweet Christ on a bike, driving here is INSANE. I've never seen people speed so recklessly - they rocket up to red lights, they regularly spin their backsides out as they take corners too tight and too fast, most roads sound like drag racing strips. It's a serious problem. I've not driven yet but I'm half-worried about it to be honest. It's the goddamn automatic cars. They just slam their foot on the accelerator and hell mend anyone who gets in their way.
Also, Brisbane has the most retarded pedestrian lights system in the world.

Well, chin up buddy, what I haven't made public knowledge yet is that my role in my company involves inter-state travel ... this will probably come into effect around the 6 month mark and will involve me flying out to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Launceston and Adelaide (possibly NZ too once we're out there). So, if I'm heading out to Perth at some stage soon, you'll know it.
Plus the fact, it's a certainty that I'll make it out to WA at some stage - I've got substantial family out there remember.
