The first mission of a planned campaign by newbie author Geep is a tiny mission based on a ship that is attacked by pirates and capsizes. With most objectives easily achieved there's not a lot else to do apart from admire the overall look of the ship and surrounding waters and look forward to the next instalment of the campaign.

Alberic's Curse
2011
Winner of the seasons contest this is a haunted church mission from Bikerdude. A Priest asks you to sneak into an abandoned church to recover a couple of holy relics. A scary little FM, that's not too difficult as you can avoid most of the zombies, but the Revenants are not so easy. The catacombs are particularly good looking being both creepy and looking run down with all the cobwebs on display.

AlchemistThief's Den: Part 4
2010
After gaining good luck off
The Heart of Lone Salvation you now need to steal a Holy Health Potion to break the curse. To get to the Alchemist's mansion however you need to make your way through the city, whose guards are on high alert, which is problematic even on easy difficulty. Thankfully the mansion is a lot easier than the city, at least until you get down to the Alchemists laboratory.

All the Way UpPenny Dreadful: Part 2
2014
On your way to sell
The Grail of Regret, your ambushed by a gang of thugs led by Montrose, so it's time to get revenge and recover the ancient relic in this excellent city mission which Melan co-authored with Bikerdude. The city is massive with high windows and hidden areas everywhere, so finding all the loot is just fantastic fun, and with a lot more readables than in the first mission the plot and sub-plots are more fleshed out.

Anomaly, The Part 1
Hidden Hands 4
2021
Having previously explored and underwater facility in The Lost Citadel, Jack Farmer now has you exploring an abandoned Pagan underground facility, an sprawling industrial looking place with zombies around almost every corner. The map is not as big or as complex as The Lost Citadel and is less puzzle orientated but still you need to find a number of scrolls, Runes and fuses to complete a large range of objectives and to proceed to the excavation caves in order to destroy a powerful boulder. 2017
A very small mission from Sotha that he made as a tutorial for newbie authors. Break into a 2 room bakery and steal Rafael's recipe book. If you play it on difficult level, with no knock outs allowed, it's really quite tricky.
Note: You can watch Sotha's video tutorials of the making of this mission (

Banque Bienveillante, La
2022
A small but gorgeously rendered reworking of the first mission of Quinn Co in which you need to clean out a failing bank run by an old aristocratic noble lady Elizabeth Wren. The bank is tiny but wonderfully run down and dilapidated, whereas Wren's apartment upstairs is so homely you'll probably want to move in after the bailiffs have thrown her out. Top class from start to finish and hopefully a later reworking of the rest of Quinn Co will be just as pleasing.

Behind Closed DoorsCrucible of Omens: Prologue
2015
Bikerdude and friends deliver a seriously superior city mission that is as challenging to deal with all the guards, as it is to ghost, even on easy difficulty. The city build is as good as it gets, with loads of both easy and hard to reach areas, as well as secret passageways to help you make your way through the complex city to get to Lazarava's mansion. The chances are you won't find all the loot on first play through, giving this mission plenty of replay value. A must play for all city-thieves highway fans.

Beleaguered Fence Thomas Porter: Part 2
2010
Your fence, Lark, has been captured and placed in jail, so you need to break in, free him and retrieve both your weapons and the loot you lost from
The Knighton Manor job. This is a small prison mission in which all the guards are wearing metal helmets, so you need to ghost it, and that's quite tough in places, even when playing on easy, as the guards patrols are tight. You can buy lockpicks at the start which will help, but during the game you should also find a fair number of keys, as well as a few well hidden places. Overall an excellent sneaking mission.

Betrayal
2010
Fieldmedic's stunning debut to TDM is a massive FM that was an entrant to the summer vertical contest. Starting off in a locked cell at the bottom of a gold mine you need to avoid a small army of undead whilst escaping the mines in order to get to Glimmerheight tower, which is occupied by Builders. Scaling both the mines and the tower presents different challenges, as you often have to take the not so obvious route, making the map both a lot more interesting and harder than you would normally expect from a novice author. Black Mage, The
2021
After his passing Grayman's son handed over to the community this unfinished mission as part of his last wishes and it was to Jack Farmer that the community looked to bring a much loved authors final work to life. The resulting mission is classic Grayman. Robert has gone missing and his father employs you to search for the truth in Lord Davenport's castle, which turns out to be a centre for an alternative cult of believers with Lord Davenport dabbling in the dark arts. Whilst within the smallish but lovingly crafted castle you need to find 5 ancient artefacts, then you descend in to the crypts which are gorgeously lit with a multitude of colours, after which you descend further into the netherworld where you need to destroy a multidimensional machine, oh and yes avoid an array of undead of course. The Black Mage is everything Grayman's missions have always been, great fun, superbly built, good looking and with nothing too difficult to accomplish, it also stands as a fitting tribute to a titan of this community. Lord Blackgrove and his family have gone missing, his estate has been abandoned, yet inside is a mysterious artifact, a cursed stone found recently and bought by Lord Blackgrove the day after his daughter went missing. Welcome to ddaazzaa's first mission, a monster sized mansion mission that is full to the brim with tension, you know something horrible is going to happen, but like a slow burn the pain is always just around the corner.

Yet another superior mission from Grayman, this time a small but terrific looking church has been taken over by the Fenton gang so you need to get in and find the forearm bones of Bishop Alexandra for your friend Father Grimmore. With no complex puzzles, this is a simple get in, grab all the loot and get back out whilst savouring the atmosphere.

Bigger and more complex than part 1, kyrma's second mission shows a lot of promise for the future.

Briarwood Cathedral
2014
A very good church/undead mission from Buch28. The Cathedral is rather small, even if a bit simple in design, but the lower levels including the crypts and catacombs is where this mission really shines, being very realistic with a 'falling to pieces' look about them. There are a number of keys to find, to access all the rooms, as well as the pirates treasure on hard difficulty.

Playing as Trevor deClarc, you start off in a tavern next to the outpost where you need to find 2 keys to open the treasury. Commerce BankWilliam Steele: Part 5
2019
The last of William Steele to be released sadly does not conclude the series due to the tragic early passing away of Grayman, a much loved author and Lead Programmer of TDM team for a number of years, but 2 more missions were almost completed and may yet be released as a final tribute, something we all hope for. In Commerce Bank William Steele is on the hunt for evidence that Captain Marsden is involved in a citywide conspiracy, which involves breaking into the private rooms in a lavishly decorated private bank. It's not a difficult mission, but the bank is a maze of rooms and corridors, beautifully crafted and yes a worthy tribute to Grayman's mapping skills.

It's also a bit of a keyhunt which is ok, but a number of locks that need to be picked can take forever, which is not so ok, but don't let that put you off as this mission deserves to be played.

Vanished One joins the competition amongst the TDM authors to see who can make the best looking mission, and as an author with clearly an artistic talent,
Vanished One gives some of the more experienced authors a run for their money. This is a relatively straight forward mansion/keyhunt mission, being both classic in style and opulent in looks but with a contemporary modern look about it, in which you need to track down Lord Jasken's hidden secret accounts. In the North William Steele: Part 1
2012
The start of Grayman's 5 part campaign has you doing one final job before you return home to your estranged father, namely to steal the gold bar Lord Harckoff is offering as bounty on your previous employer. Set in a large and complex mansion that was built as an extension to an old church and currently occupied by the most unpleasant of nobles, you'll be rewarded with excellent readables laying bare the numerous deaths of various people who Lord Harckoff didn't approve of, whilst revealing the many secrets hidden within the house. Your girlfriend asks you to collect a ring off the body of her ex-lover before he is buried. This involves heading through some very dark alleyways to get to St Briar's Chapel, but it is a very dark mission, so although there are only a few houses to loot along the way, as well as a few other areas to explore, you may well not find everything as sadly you don't have a lantern.

2018
Modern art meets TDM in Jack Farmer's first mission in which you are sent to the mysterious Blackstone island to recover a number of artefacts. This mission is rather like a quest FM in that you need to visit 5 different locations (mansion, church, cabin, cemetery, crypt) most of which look like they are contemporary art galleries with great looking sculptures and valuable paintings adorning the public spaces and walls lit up with a kaleidoscope of primary colours, giving the mission a unique look and feel. Set over 3 parts, you need to first steal money from each of the guests, next steal all the inn keeper's health potions and scare away his horse, before in the final part claim the reward for letting the tavern's owner know how you got into the tavern in the first place.

Iris
2022
TDM has given us some great missions over the years but rarely is a mission released by a new author (Wellingtoncrab) that is as staggeringly good as Iris. From the very onset of the mission you know you are in for a treat when you discover that every street has a multitude of different apartments to enter from a whole range of different rooftops, windows and doors, linear this mission is certainly not, indeed it's a compelling warren of narrow alleyways, courtyards and hidden locations. As you proceed you'll find there are at least 10 optional objectives to complete, superb readables in almost every building giving further depth and richness to the plot and being 2.10 you'll of course find some special glasses which gives you access to even more locations. Eventually you'll find your way into the plague quarter, which is almost as big as the city itself, maybe not as complex as the city, but certainly as rich in detail. Iris is huge, it's superb and it's a mission you deserve to play right now.

2016
A deliciously good looking city mission from Spooks who cleverly manages to use both blue and red lightening to great effect giving this mission a unique atmosphere. You have been tasked by an old friend to retrieve his belongings, including a valuable diamond, from his old hideout. With a couple of optional objectives, this is a classic city exploration mission with some great horror scenes.

2010
A superb introduction to the

It's not a particularly difficult mission on lower difficulties, but does require an extra level of sneakiness on hard difficulty as your only allowed 2 KO's. Along with a couple of well hidden areas, there's also a rather good puzzle involving the alarm system.

Living Expenses was the first big mansion mission for TDM and is also quite a challenge, as you will need to ghost a fair proportion of the map until you find your weapons, as well as that, the guards placement is well thought out. 2020
Argueably the most anticipated TDM mission ever The Painter's Wife is classic Thief inspired exploration across an extraordinarily complex and massive city of Milway Quarter, as you search for Lily who has gone missing from Lord Marlow's mansion. Years in the production and with most the very best TDM authors being involved, The Painter's Wife delivers on every level from being one of the best Thieves Highway missions ever with a deep and genuinely satisfying plot, to the satisfaction of discovering all of the hidden areas and the 13 secrets to find, this mission will keep you searching high and low for hours if not days.
Note: Due to the size of the mission some players may experience severe lagging in open areas, this can often be fixed by amending some lines in your Darkmod.cfg, see (

I didn't include A Wonderful Reception because it's a demo and I excluded the majority of demos, unless I considered them mini missions and worth playing, such as Droid, Batman and Throne room (ok so that ones rubbish but it makes me laugh). Also I'm not sure if you can beat the mission either, I certainly couldn't.
There are a number of other demos that could merit inclusion, if you fancy putting a list together of other demo's you think are worthy of inclusion I'll consider them, but I don't want to fill these tables with 100's of rubbish and pointless demo's, it is after all a brief summaries of missions not demo's.
As for TDM training, it's not a mission, just an exercise in picking locks, yeah wonderful stuff. :sly:
Quote Posted by klatremus
Fair enough. I read about a wonderful reception and thought it was a mission. Never played it, and the description didn't say anything about a demo. As for the tdm training, I'd say it's
much more than an exercise in lockpicks. It's vastly bigger (and better) than most smaller fan missions I've played. You included other training-like missions (like TTGM), that's why I noticed it.
Excellent work on this list though, nothing taken away from that.

This work you have done Fortuni is amazing! My hat's off to you. I hope you don't mind me posting some corrections to a couple of my missions. Jenivere De Ja Vu was never part of the Love Story series. I simply used a modified version of it for two of the Love Story missions. I think I created a lot of confusion with all of the similar girl names used in the various Love Story missions, however Jeni was in LS1 and LS2, Jenifer was in LS3 and LS4, and Jaine was in LS5 Part 2. I don't recall mentioning any names in LS5 Part 1 though. Jenivere is actually the same character as Jenevere but only erroneously misspelled as Jenivere. She isn't any of the three girls mentioned in the Love Story series. I think the only three missions that needed editing are Jenivere De Ja Vu, Love Story I, and Love Story III please.

I would like to play Mine Shock for Thief 1 on NewDark 1.27. I downloaded all DMLs by voodoo47, but the dml for Mine Shock does not seem to be in the archive. Am I missing something?
Quote Posted by fortuni
With this mission these is no dml, Voodoo got permission from JIS to fix Mine Shock and made a new miss20.mis file.
Looks like Voodoo has deleted a number of fixes from his repository since he released the latest TFix that includes FMdml package, but it looks like FMdml loads the new miss20.mis file for this mission as it is included in his FMdml release notes.
Here's a copy of the good miss20.mis file. Extract this new (
https://drive.google.com/open?id=19OdJnJDa62JNjpNgHixBYgvxYPGL_KW-) miss20.mis file from it's zip and replace the bad miss20.mis file in Mine Shock folder.
Only put in TG/FMSel/Mineshock folder or replace the miss20.mis file in your Mineshock FM folder and then reinstall Mine Shock patched with the good miss20.mis file
Do
NOT place it in your TG main Root folder.

It's the first mission in a five part campaign.
Also it's Jordan Wiverton.

With all the T2 dml's now included in as an optional extra with T2Fix up to and including 2006 (2007 dml's will included within a couple of months hopefully), is there any need for me to continue adding the individual dml links to their respective entries in the Brief Summaries tables.
I would be particularly interested to here the opinion players who load the dml's manually or are most players now relying on T2Fix and the FMdml option.
Quote Posted by vfig
I'd generally prefer to install dmls manually, but not really for any principled reasons. I wasn't actually aware of FMdml until just now! I have been searching individual mission threads for dml's. That said, I think your brief summaries index is invaluable, and the dml links are definitely a useful addition to it.
Quote Posted by Galaer
I would be really happy if you would continue putting links to dml fixes in Brief Summaries thread. I'm using Tafferpatcher and yes, I could install T2Fix. But I don't see the point for that. T2Fix is still young, so bugs still pops out. Tafferpatcher isn't perfect either, but for me it's more compatible than T2Fix currently is. For example: I had no technical problem with any of T2 Anniversary missions, but I saw comments from people using latest T2Fix about scripts not working correctly.
The first thing I do when trying a mission, I check Brief Summaries thread for some info about fixes, then I check what this fixes change. Sometimes dml fixes don't change gameplay, only look. Sometimes they prevent from mantling to some places. And I prefer to have every advantage in the mission, even if it's not intended. Besides I want to have a choice if I want to install dml fix or not.
Quote Posted by fortuni
Thanks for feedback guys, will carry on posting most links in BS thread.
Just to let you know as only Jax is now making dml's I will not be reporting minor misplaced objects to him any more as they are fiddly to fix and they require very precise work, so is unreasonable to ask one man to spend too much time on such minor issues, but we will carry on fixing glaringly obvious misplaced objects that just look stupid. However if it's only one or 2 misplaced objects fixed I may choose not add that dml to the BS thread, but I will carry on adding all game breaking issues, end game stats issues, fix secrets and objectives etc.
@Galaer
Jax would be interested in any reported scripts issues with regard to T2Fix.
The latest T2Fix 1.27b has to many updated scripts to mention and even some fixes for recently discovered ND issues, whether the reports you saw were related to 1.27b or earlier could be significant.
Quote Posted by klatremus
I also very much appreciate having the dml's linked in the mission descriptions in this thread. I like to experience the missions as close to the original as possible, only applying absolutely necessary fixes. The information this thread gives me is invaluable in that regard.
Quote Posted by <Username>
Individual dml links in the brief summaries tables are very useful. I always check the thread and install dml's manually if necessary.

Quote Posted by fortuni
Discovered it had been officially withdrawn when I was compiling the FM Loader guide, can't remember how I discovered that, may have been informed by someone who was around at the time. Often missions that are withdrawn don't have a public announcement as such rather they are quietly put to bed.
Having said that I think everyone should play DC simply as an object lesson as to how not to make a mission, it's truly terrible on every level, but wonderfully memorable at the same time, quite an achievement.
