Normally, breakfast is a non-event. Nicotine, coffee, and a quick beer on the way out the door. The weekends are the one time we are home to eat, and we a re both programmed to get up with the roosters. 4:30 am during the week 6 am on the weekends, and that is sleeping in.
So, I like to hook my girlfriend up. I am bored with the old standards, and just wanted to get out of my rut. Thanks for the replies, and keep 'em coming.

Tomato with olive-oil and balsimico-whatsitcalled, baguette, orange juice. Really don't have the time for anything special.

Left over pasta just about coated with a decent tomato sauce.
With a decent coffee.
Easy way to make a coffee.
Don't mess about with cafetieres and filter machines.
Buy a fine ground espresso coffee. I use Lavassa Crema Gusta
One and a half heaped desert spoons straight in the cup
Add water, just of the boil.
Leave for 2 minutes, add milk.
There you go.
All the grounds sink to the bottom and you have a perfect cup of morning goodness
If you don't use a fine ground coffee you'll get the grounds floating on top and have to filter them through your teeth.
Your only problem will be everyone telling you, you can't use ground coffee in a cup.

Coffee used to be made that way. Boiling water (just off the campfire long enough to stop boiling) a handful of grounds. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes and a dash of cold water to sink the grounds.
Also known as turkish coffee. It's way better than coffee made with drippers and whatnot.

Sounds like you've got breakfast pretty well sorted out already.

On the rare occasions that I find time on a weekday to have breakfast, it's
Marmite on Toast. Mmmm, mmm. Usually though, it's a cup of coffee once I get to work and some kind of cereal bar.

eggs benedict
I've always liked the sound of eggs benedict but never had all the required ingredients on hand at the appropriate time.

About the only hard ingredient to come across is the hollandaise sauce. Since you probably already have the ham, eggs, and english muffin on hand at any given time, all you need to do is plan ahead and get the stuff for it.
And trust me, it is so worth it. One of my favorite egg dishes, by and far.

Hollandaise sauce should never, ever be bought readymade. The ingredients can be bought in any decent store. Making it, however, is another issue. But once you get the knack of it, you won't ever think of buying readymade hollandaise. Especially if you use free range eggs and some classier brand of vinegar.
Anyway, hollandaise is used as a base to make other sauces such as béarnaise etc.

I don't usually have muffins either, so the hollandaise is a moot point for me. One of these days I'll get my shit sorted and plan ahead.
Or I'll treat myself in the next half decent hotel I find myself in.

Chocolate waffles + clotted cream + strawberries (either freshly sliced, or homemade jam)
