Radio waves bounced off Saturn and then shifted into the audible sound domain, with some timestretching so you can hear the interesting variations of pitch. We aren't whales, after all. THEY ARE COMING FOR US
EDIT: I am having a crisis do not ask me about it

FARM OUT! Forbidden Planet, circa 1956, pretty much nailed them 'out there' otherworldly sounds.

I hate trying to write about ambient mus .. in fact, I rather dislike the term "ambient", so I'm going to change that to ELECTRO-WIFFLECAKES.
Right, I hate trying to write about ELECTRO-WIFFLECAKES because it can so often descend into terrifying metaphor hell where every bleepy bloopy sound is THE CASCADING EXPLOSION OF A DISTANT STAR, WEEPING DOWN THE CHEEK OF A CELESTIAL VIRGIN. Therefore, I will try to keep this simple.
First impressions ahoyyyyyyy!
"arcturus" is awfully pretty, and it has lovely chord changes that it MAKES YOU WAIT FOR. Which is good. I did get a little bit bored by the end though, sorry.
"mira" is rather amazing and chilled me right the fuck out. Person above me who mentioned outer space - this is an obvious comment and comparison to make, but nonetheless IT IS CORRECT AND RIGHTEOUS.
"algol" was sort of annoying and undid all the hard relaxing work of "mira", but maybe that was the clever plan all along you devilish fiend. The stuttering thing was a bit like irritating children continually playing with a sound-effects pad of doorbell and phone rings, and it got on my tits somewhat.
"fomalhaut" seems to be the sexy sibling of "mira" and is equally dreamy and lush.
<3 delay!

I do not recall telling any other posters of excellent free music to "Get out", but sometimes I suffer from debilitating memory blackouts so maybe what you say is true.
I'm sure you think you're TAKING A DARING POP AT TTLG CULTURE, but in fact you're just being foolish and incorrect. Also, more likely than not, you will only perpetuate any perceived injustices with your slovenly approach to comedy.

Noid, if you care about the opinion of a musical phillistine, some of that is likeable enough to go on my playlist at work, the exception being 'bzzrt' aka Algol.
Para?noid on 13/5/2006 at 00:02
Thanks, dv, your opinion is always welcome. Hurr, nobody likes Algol. Maybe I've been listening to too much fucking crazy shit recently.

Ah...lovely, lovely...going on about each song individually (I'm a musical ignoramus, but I know what I like, so...):
Arcturus - ooohhh....makes me think of Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid. Influenced/inspired by'em, perhaps?, in any case...quite relaxing...good stuff...makes me think of tall, long echoing halls painted blue.
Mira - more, how-to-say....alive?, dunno...very calm, nice, nice...ambience oozing along...makes me think of a pink ocean and waves, just waves....I like.
Formalhaut - nice, nice...reminded me a bit of Mira, but I prefered Mira, still. Very nice, shaky, like endless vibrating.
Algol - I'm with the rest here, it's not bad, but I guess less waht and some more....er...coherence?, would have made a world of a difference to some (myself included), still...some sounds there have potential....it does make me think of a scratched, very scratched, CD.
All in all, once more, Noid proves he has the musician's skills :).
Cheers.
