Too soon.

Geez this came out of nowhere. Looking at BBC but it doesn't seem like there is any word on who is behind this or why. Any update I am missing?

Nah. Early days yet. Reports vary wildly from streets strewn with limbs to serious but not fatal injuries mainly.
3 dead, up to 100 injured seems pretty common now ("injured" including got hit by a small shard of glass)
Not that I'm downplaying it. They're talking of ball bearings in the device. Anyone close enough to one got it pretty bad, of that we can be sure.

New York Post is reporting that they've got a "person of interest" under guard, who just happens to be a Saudi national. 12 dead so far according to the Post.
The Post is full of shit.

BBC doesn't have anything on a suspect, so I'm skeptical of that suspect claim.

Luckily it was only small explosion, could have turned out much worse

As always with these things, I'm waiting to see what is known before reaching for too many hypotheses.
The false flag idiots are out in force on twitter already though. No surprise there.
The world is a scary place sometimes. There were around 33 people killed in Iraq yesterday in bombings also :(

The police came out and confirmed they had a person of interest, a Saudi student that was seen running from the scene (like most people). But then the word today is there's nothing to actually connect the student to the incident, so it's apparently nothing better than racial profiling, and he's not considered a suspect.
Using homemade pipebombs in trashcans & post boxes strikes me as more the profile of domestic terrorism, TBH, young, white, militia type. Someone on the news pointed out that one of Al Qaida's site does advocate striking crowded sporting events, but that doesn't really mean much.
Honestly, I think it could go a lot of different directions... Because it's just one person with materials you could get at any shop, it could be any crazy person with any sort of agenda or paranoia under the sun.

I'm seeing on another forum people suspecting North Korea, so the entire spectrum of dumbass finger-pointing has been well-covered.
