I must be the only one who doesnt find Borat or Ali G funny.
You're not alone
Despite the cloaked social commentary I guess I just prefer more high-brow shit like HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU or THE DAY TODAY or SCREENWIPE shit I don't know what I like anymore anyway it's all bollocks
actually i do know that TV Go Home is what comedy should be about

Funny, I just saw the movie and it seemed to me they only started booing when Borat sang that other countries are run by little girls. At the blood-drinking comment there seemed to be cheering, too, with maybe the exception of a few puzzled faces.
Anyways, the movie had its funny moments, but it wasn't great. Also, it didn't reveal anything new about the americans of redneck areas.

I have actually noticed a lot of people sticking up for the 'victims' in the film often overlook some of the smaller things. I mean sure a cultured, well-off family didn't kick his ass when he brought a turd to the table, but what about the man on the street (so to speak)? The thing that really had me taken aback went something like this:
Borat: What is your name?
Guy on subway: My name's Mind Your Own Fucking Business.
Though I suppose you can't blame him for being grumpy with a name like that.

I actually loved that bit. So stereotypically New York, lol.

I did also, but the thing is that each of the three times I've been to NYC, all the people I talked to were quite friendly - or at least not rude.

I remember reading once that native new yorkers are supposed to be more laid-back, but people who moved there were generally big fish in small ponds who are unhappy their relative status in New York not being what it once was, and it is they who cause the impression of the asshole New Yorker. I can't remember where it was and I've never been to New York though.

I just saw the movie today. Pretty funny. I'm actually surprised it generated so much discussion, as it's essentially just Dumb & Dumber with foreigners.
