errr......this is my first post on this forum....so please don't flame me too much if you don't like the topic (or else i may just cry :( ).....
i was just wondering if....
a) others are as fascinated with the seeming plethora of books, notes, etc. in this game as I
b)anyone else has forgone additional quests from various guilds/houses, etc. to work on a book collection
c) you have found any really interesting reads or extremely rare books in Vvanderfell...
for example....
i finished my collection of the sermons of Vivec last night :cheeky: and have a decent collection of most of the "skill" books in the game.....
thanks for sharing your thoughts (in advance of course)...

Poison Song's one of the more twisted book series in the game, IMO, but good luck finding it in-game; it's scattered all over the place, and noone I noted had the complete set. Also, contrasting the two Bareziah (sp?) book series is also an interesting exercise.

Yes I have a rather extensive library in my Castle (formerly Androseth). I have been unable to stack the books horzontally though (like up and down) ..only can make stacks (piles). Anybody know how to do this??? I have the complete Lessons of Vivec and think they would look great on my shelves. I also have collected all the little bits of notes and placed them on tables..like a museum..looks pretty slick. Put all kinds of Redware candles in the room so I have plenty of light too. I am a Rougue with fashion sense..LOL..most unusual book is the gay porno book given by the head of House Redoran ..i forget its name.

to forsythe...
i liked the poison song books also. i have 1,2, and 4?
to azmartini....
i agree that the book stacking thing is quite annoying....
i basically use the entire downstairs of my hlaalu stronghold to "spread" the books out:D ....it's a shame you can't somehow invert yourself sideways to make it nice and neat on the bookshelf!
Ps. have you guys found the book that's something like "the original saryon's sermons"...
it's more of a collectible for the rarity/price factor i suppose.....

Hmm... I don't like to take books because i become concerned that i will mess a future quest up but i do love reading them. :)
One book i read at Tel Vos about the wizard who tries to bring a dead woman back from the dead because he has fallen in love with a staue of her
he ends up bringing back the monster she slayed though because he got their names mixed up.
I recently read a very disturbing book on a smugglers ship which had a story about cannibal nords attacking a tower and how the lord of the castle had a loads of slaves murdered to make some bone mold armour so he could equip some more slaves to go out among the nords and bring back some water.
The ghosts of the slaves taking the form of 'boneless' bodies come back and demand their bones back with nasty reprocussions.
Other nice stories include one where a guy cant stop talking in alphabetical order, one where two battle mages hypothetically betray each other, most that include vampires, and the story where Vivec shouts at one of his spies (who later becomes known as the worst spy ever).

I found the corpse prep. series very enjoyable and I am the lucky owner of (after 3 months of looking) the whole poison song set, and no I'm not telling where I got them so HA!:ebil:

I have also started a collection, though I am limiting myself to books valued over 200 at the moment - makes life easier - I too wish they could stack nicely - but ah well ;) I think I am going to start the Vivec collection - though I may have to upgrade from the Balmora plug-in to something bigger though if I follow some of your examples ;)

I like the 2010 series... i think it's 24 books, but its really good.
The mystery of Talera(5 books) was also interesting.
The real barenziah and a biography of barenziah were some books i read too.
Red, the first book you were talking about was Palla(read that too). And the last one about the spy is in the 2010 books... never read the other ones though.

I read pretty much everything, but the Posion song ones I haven't read. I'm about to make a trip to Vivec to start collecting a library for my stronghold.
Did anyone else find it funny that The Real Baranziah, which was supposed to be unedited, had an edited section... right where it got good too :p

I've only just started this unbearably amazing game, and I have to say this thread rocks! You folks seem to GET it. The amount of work that went into creating Morrowind is evident in the "details" that most impatient players miss, like the books. It's really mind-boggling, frankly. I felt the same way (or almost) about Daggerfall at the time.
