Or maybe not, but with Sam Mendes at the helm, director of melodramas like American Beauty and Revolutionary Road, and a script with a lead-writer whose pedigree is exclusively character-driven dramas, like Frost/Nixon and The Queen, you have to wonder what kind of Bond is going to emerge at the end.
I liked the blunt-edged Bond of Casino Royale but the grim relentless Bond of Quantum of Solace translated into a rather joyless movie-going experience.
Making Bond more human has its appeals, but if they go too far down the path of melodrama and have Bond has some depressed alcoholic who has long conversations with his therapist about lost love, I'm not going to be happy.

Why does that sound like the gross liberties taken in the new Holmes movie to me?

They already had a movie where bond saw a therapist and did weights, it was called Never Say Never Again, and it was actually quite good.

In this 1970s political melodrama, Bond is a boring, fat, middle-aged civil servant who has a sexual awakening when an older man takes a position of authority over him.

Because you haven't seen the film or read the books?

Maybe we'll just have to live with the fact that Bond is done, in these times.
Nah.

The thing is if Scots' title came true it would be so much hilarious win I think the franchise would explode with awesomeness.
Especially with hardman Craig in the role; Moore and Brosnan were pretty camp anyway, though Dalton would have been a good heartless "queer as folk" shagger who breaks 'em in then leaves them to wallow. Craig would be so wrong it would be so right.
