dried up crackwhore bitch she may be, but she's gotta hell of a voice at times
Portishead are definitely in there with my vote though.

Believe it or not, I've
still never seen On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
You're not missing much. In OHMSS James Bond can, apparently, disguise his identity from his long-time archrival Blofeld for a very extended period of time just by wearing a pair of glasses and speaking with a terrible accent.
Though in retrospect it probably makes sense. Absolutely nobody will ever confuse George Lazenby for James Bond.

Yeah, it's not great but I've got a soft spot for OHMSS.
Lazenby is as wooden as a totem pole but the musical score (including Louis Armstrong), the spectacular alpine sets, Diana Rigg and some classic Bond cheese leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling every time I see it.

Isn't Portishead doing Bond kind of like Jay-Z scoring a sequel to Annie?

To do it proper justice we really need some sort of Goldfrapp/Portishead/Propellorheads supergroup.
(tangent: I thought the Cornell tune was pretty catchy on the last one although I'm apparently a rare specimen in that regard. Him singing it is still a little strange; from Soundgarden to -wilderness- to...Duran Duran.)

Agreed.
And holy what the fuck, welcome back and where have you been?
Vermont. Decent job. But in Vermont. Also: fuck Vermont.
I may very well be in NYC this Friday / Saturday for my birthday weekend, though! (yes I get a whole weekend deal with it. Vermont.)
Been poking my head back in here on and off for a few months without posting, but I couldn't let this one slide. Which says a lot about my choice of convictions.
Happy to see you / Muz / Stitch / Scots / all you other happy people still kicking around. I don't want to be that dude who posts once and says "Hi FYI I'm not dead" and disappears again, but we'll see!

I liked the Cornell track too Muz. A lot. It was a great Bond theme. Cornell has a great voice and the entire title sequence was a winner.
I can totally see Portishead doing a Bond theme. I'd prefer Tricky his sel' or even Massive Attack though.
OHMSS was so different. I don't think there is a Bond film I dislike pre the Bosnan mess-ups tbh. And Lazenby can do one thing that no Bond before Brosnan in Goldeneye and Craig can do - have a really entertaining fist fight. Yes, they aren't the grit of the later ones but they are so damn brutal. Gawd I'm such a Bond nerd.

Another endorsement of the Casino Royale title sequence and theme song here.

Both "You Know My Name" and Chris Cornell kick serious amounts of arse. I'm glad that Audioslave broke up though, I would've never have gotten the opportunity to RAtM live otherwise.
