Hrm.. we ultimately have to suspect anything Vivec writes in his sermons; he put this in "The Battle of Red Mountain":
Once the Nords were driven out, General Nerevar of the Chimer and General Dumac of the Dwemer, who had come to love and respect one another, resolved to make peace between their peoples. In that time I was but a junior counselor to Nerevar, and Nerevar's queen, Almalexia, and his other favorite counselor, Sotha Sil, always doubted that such a peace might long survive, given the bitter disputes between Chimer and Dwemer, but by negotiation and compromise, Nerevar and Dumac somehow managed to preserve a fragile peace.
And yet he put this in his sermons that:
1) He began life as an egg
2) He grew up under the tutelage of great spirits and Mephala herself
3) That Vivec was Nerevar's "lord and master" (sermon #16)
Btw, turns out Vivec claims he married Molag Bal, who's described as a "he" in the passage in question (sermon #12)
Given that, and given that the only other proof that supported my theory of gender-vague Daedra is how Azura is referred to, I think that the term 'Prince' of Daedra may just be a gender-neutral honorific, and Vivec's full of it.
Or do you recall the references you're referring to, Eater1?

"Archcanon Tholer Saryoni asked me to bring him the Ebony Mail. The Ebony Mail can be found in Mount Assarnibibi where Molag Bal oversaw the 99 lovers of Boethiah that gave birth to Almalexia. Mount Assarnibibi is north of Molag Mar."
I suppose if anything, this points to Boethiah as being male, but remember, this is said by a Temple guy, so don't look to it for historical "truth". I thought it was Boethiah giving birth, but I guess not...

The whole concept of marriage can be a metaphor... As a monk you have, just like a nun, given yourself to lord jesus... Some kind of mental/religious matrimony! And it must be meant in some other way than the common intepretation as the catholic church in no way supports or acknowledges homosexuality!
So when it comes to the regious writs, presumably written by the demi-god Vivec, we probably should try and analyse it with some similar presumptions fresh in memory.
However it would be interesting to take these things to Bethesda to hear what they have to say about it... :erg:

Eater: Hmm.. true; if you want to be literal about it, Molag Bal simply oversaw (ie: organised, watched out for, etc.) Bothial's 99 lovers. As Almalexia presumably grew up as a mortal, if this myth is accurate then she likely had to've had a mortal mother.
Exodus_dk: Very possible; it could be that, if genderless, they procreate by infusing something with their power (eg: a shot of power to each of Boethial's 99 lovers). I'm still suspicious of anything in Vivec's Sermons though ;)

Forsythe: I doubt that myth is actually real in the respect of Amalexia being born of immortal parents... it sounds too much like typical Temple propoganda, and it WAS said by a temple priest.
jstnomega: Thanks, but I already installed the patch and it fixed the problem.

*grin* Yeah, I hear you, Eater; I'm skeptical of any of the Temple's dogma, I just don't have any proof for or against it, and as it doesn't conflict any known facts I have to allow for its possibility. If we're to believe what "The Anticipations" has to say, the pre-godhood versions of Almalexia, Sotha Sil & Vivec are all special in the "destined for greatness" way... so it's not inconceivable. On the other hand, it's possible that that book is also part of Vivec's "new and improved" history.
Due to Vivec's meddling, I think all we can really say with any measure of surety is "Uhhhh... I dunno"
