I've been listening to these artists a lot recently and was wondering, who are you a fan of or consider to be more talented musically and/or lyrically?
It's weird, people always compare Springsteen to Dylan, and i can't stand his music, and yet i LOVE Dylan. Strange little world.

Jack White.

Most definitely Tom Waits.
But, I much prefer Leonard Cohen over all three, as far as "artistic expression" through song goes.

Sarcasm?
All three have their merits, I wouldn't like to pick a favourite.

I thought this thread would be "Which of The Travelling Wilburies 2 should I kill first"
Thank god I'm not that far behind the times.

So I'm stuck in a room with those three, and my gun only has two bullets left in it?
I think I would shoot Bob Dylan twice, just to make sure.

Jack White.
For real? Jack White is great but he's all about the sound. Not much of a lyrics-writer or a singer. I mean, yeah, he can sing. But very rarely can he make me
feel what he's singing the way Waits or Dylan can. Neil Young is one of those artist I
should like, but just don't. I can't connect with his lyrics or his music.
Anyway, a year ago I would have said Waits hands down. But little by little I'm beginning to warm more to Dylan.

none of those guys can sing to save themselves, however thats the whole strength of their music, isnt it? Its not so much the delivery as the content which stands up.

You couldn't possibly be more wrong.
I mention Jack White not because I think he's better than the three dudes called out in the original post--I frankly don't have the perspective to speak with any authority on that subject--but I do think Jack White is one of the only rock personalities from my generation to possess enough distinct style and skill
as an individual to possibly rank among the likes of Dylan, Young, and Waits.
Also: I'm trying to open this up as nothing is more dull than discussing whether Batman could take Superman.
