I threw a bit of a party this weekend and whipped out Risk with some friends and had a blast playing. We also got some Bananagrams and Zombie Fluxx going on, which were great fun, and now my attention has been perked, and I think we're going to make this a weekly(ish) thing.
Shadows over Camelot looked interesting, and I feel like it might be a more simple game (as far as one featuring figures) that might lead us into something more like Heroscape or even Dungeons and Dragons though I've heard the latter requires a lot of time investment.
So, yeah, I want some good party / board game suggestions.

Quite partial to the odd game of (

Though it can involve some pretty extensive backstabbing, so play with good friends. Think Kane & Lynch fragile alliance multiplayer meets L4D. On a board.

I have a copy sitting in my closet. :P
I recommend LEGO Creationary.

Settlers of Catan (3-4 players, or 5-6 with expansion) building / resource collection / trading game
Carcassonne (2-5 players) easy to learn tile placement game.
Diplomacy (7 players, you will all hate each other by the end though!)
Dominion (2-4 player deck building game)
Day & Night (2 player strategy /card game)
I've tried Shadows over Camelot, was quite fun. Once everyone gets what's going on its good. Has the fun traitor aspect.
Also, Risk is a rather boring game, but the Lord of the Rings Risk is much better.

Thanks for the recommendations!

That looks pretty awesome, actually.

I actually used to play Settlers online with Daxim. The crowd I'm playing with is mostly art kids so I'm trying to shoot for something with a bit of style / flair to it, but I do remember having fun playing that.
I've heard a lot of recommendations for Dominion. I think that'll be one of the first ones we try.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Shadows over Camelot, I'm pretty excited about that one. It's not a lot of board games that really have the cooperative aspect, and this one caught my eye.
I tried a few games of LOTR Risk in December and actually hated it. Risk 2210 caught my eye, but the fact that the game is set up for only 5 turns makes me question how fun it really is.

I dunno if this counts as a board game exactly, but I came across this new ipad app the other day that really impressed me, and it sounds right up your alley if you're interested in the tabletop D&D type stuff.

I've never played D&D myself, I'm just interested in making the maps. Doubly so since you can make and import your own little tiles and pieces. In the right setting, with the right group of people, this could be cool as hell.
