I have got a big PIECE OF WOOD stuck. In my head.
I will be in debt to him who dislodges it...

The one where a vengefull god floods the entire world, killing untold millions while mr and mrs noah sit atop a cramped boat watching swolen and bloated carcasses bob up and down in the filthy mire that surround them. Fortunately the vengefull god feels a bit guilty afterwards and does a rainbow to make up for it.
Are acts of biblical genocide really suitable reading for two year olds?
There are special Biblical publications that are tailored for children, and I was read from one such publication every night when I was a small child (my Grandparents were devout Lutherans). Is that the type of religious book your sister and her husband read to their child(ren)? If not, perhaps you could gift them with a Children's Bible to read to their children.
Just a thought (and no, I did not read anyone else's post in case this thread had turned into some religious debate :) ).

You know what's bad? There's a Left Behind series specifically for children.

Whatever would make you think something like
that would happen on this forum?
;)

I'm not sure what you mean here, Monkeysee...please clarify, as we all know I am sometimes slow on the uptake. ;)

Would you like him to continue carrying the club card?
Suddenly and hastily? Now
that's slanted.
:p
I think the reason our two positions are so far apart is because I do not see it as leaving the club.
Which makes me wonder what constitutes leaving the jewish 'club'.
How do you define your jewishness? By traditions, the belief in the Tora, the studying of the Talmud, circumsision? Why should messianics reject these things?
I can understand that 'believing' orthodox jews reject messianics.
But why should messianics reject their own religion, which they see as being fullfilled in the messiah they believe to have found?

Don't start me on the Left Behind series ...
I know it's popular with many genuine christians but in my opinion it's based on dodgy theology.
To put it technically, I'm a "post-persecution rapturist", mainly because I don't think Jesus will return
twice.

Well, personally I wouldn't want to control other people. Too much work! ;)
All I want is that other people let me live my life the way I want :)

Moonsilk,
yeah - they've got all those kiddie bibles with the nice cute pictures of biblical acts of genocide. So thats all alright then.
Way back when I used to live in Brighton me and the girl I was house sharing with were accosted upon the street by some people proporting to be jewish.
"Come for an evening of Jewish music in our synagog they said"
The girl I was house sharing with had jewish family so was interested and I am always up for a bit of folk music and dancing - so off we went to an evening of bad messianic jewish pop music that sounded just like bad christian pop music. we left at the interval.
As a rule of thumb I would suggest that people should veer away from using rock guitar solos in religeous pop songs. :-)
