That is a great FAQ, thanks for posting the exercepts. I think I've been to his site a long time ago, lots of good BR stuff there.
The idea of Tyrell being dead and frozen in a tube (a la Walt Disney) and having a replicant represent him would have been a great twist.

Sorry for the necromancy, but I thought that this would be more appropriate than creating a new thread.
Here's a (
http://www.bulletsnbabesdvd.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4177) work-in-progress report chronicling the changes seen in the new "Final Cut" of the film.
A lot of them appear to be very subtle, unlike Lucas' tomfoolery.

Man I wish they would just leave this shit alone. I love Blade Runner as a film, and it easily ranks in my top 3 movies. But man, why can't we just appreciate movies for what they were when they origionally came out? I agree with director's cuts when it seems that the director couldn't origionally do what he/she wanted because it mightn't have sold as well. But doing up movies like this is just horrible, why can't we just leave them alone and appreciate them warts and all?

That's exactly what happened here.
The theatrical release, which it is highly unlikely you even saw, was butchered by the studio. The director's cut from '91 was an attempt to piece together those problems after the fact, but even then Scott didn't have full control or all of the resources he needed.
The new cut (which has been sitting in a can for years) is a better representation of what he wanted from the film. And, unlike Lucas, he's doing us the favor of actually releasing the other versions as well, so nobody loses if those are what you want.

BR's one of my all-time favorite movies.
Vangelis' music is sublime (IMHO) here.
Frankly, I -can't- wait to get the Ultimate Edition Blu-ray :D:D:D
RAR!!!
Also, I want to read the novel it was based on. :)

And you know what Duck? It's such a great film that the departures from the novel won't even matter. They are very different though, and this really is one case where I think the film is superior. Perhaps it's cause I saw it first. Though I doubt it. PKD was pretty messed up and some of his books make for uncomfortable reading.

The worst thing they've done, in my oppinion, was really adding that voice-over.

I guess now's an even less opportune time to express my disappointment with Blade Runner. :(

I started reading this thread and was already forming a response in my head, before I realised I had already posted the very same opinion - SIX YEARS AGO.
Maybe I should read the posting dates more carefully. Or maybe it's a tad late to resurrect this thread.

Oh god someone stop the 2001 me before he posts again.
