As far as I know TTLG has only one color theme, which is very bright background with black text. I was wondering how much of a hassle it would be to create a secondary theme which has the total opposite; black background and white text.
The reason I ask is that my eyesight is terrible for the current theme, I always need to highlight text to be able to read it at all, plus the background burns my eyes, I get a headache in no time. So it would be much much better if I had the ability to view the forums with the above mentioned theme. :)
This could be an option in the User CP, being able to select between 'Default' and 'Dark' in a drop down menu.
I hope this can be done without much hassle. :)
If this option is already available, I blame my eyes

I started to make such a theme myself once.
I got about one minute into it before I released how sloppily the TTLG graphics are (no offense), with patches of white background around them and such, and gave it up as a lost cause.

A high-contrast template to accommodate members with difficult vision might not be a bad idea at all. I'll look into it.

Well, at least it doesn't burn my eyes. :p
Nameless Voice, the fact that you tried is appreciated. Too bad the design makes it difficult and time consuming, let's hope GBM will have better luck.

Maybe it would be easiest just to 'invert' all graphics in photoshop. I did a printscreen which I then inverted and this was the result.

That looks pretty good, easy for me to read the text and no eye-burning. :)
Any dark color works for me, though my favorites are colors like black or very dark blue.
How long would it take to convert the forum graphics into high-contrast?

You'd be doing the environment a favour too; a monitor displaying black uses about 20% less energy than one displaying white.

I read that actually it does not make any difference on a TFT as only the pixel is blacked out, the screen's backlight is still on behind it.
(As I know nothing about the technology of TFT screens, I'll be waiting for someone to confirm this.)

Indeed. For TFT it makes no appreciable difference what colours are being displayed.
