But the real problem is that the bike was only 3 years old at the time, so its parents, Harley and scooter, are filing a lawsuit for Tricycle molestation!

Wow ... off hand I can think of 1000 things stupidly wrong about making this a serious offense.
If there's only one sentient being involved in a sexual act, it's masturbation ... no matter how many toys you add to the mix, he's offense is masturbation at best. God help us if it's a three year offense to masturbate in your own room.
Also ... seriously, everyone knows the guy that when he gets really drunk he does the stupidest things. I've had friends get so drunk they simulate sex with all sorts of things sitting around for laughs ... sofas, tvs, washing machines ... -> stupid counter: "But that was obviously a joke; this was serious!" -> "So you're telling me simulating sex with a bike in public as a joke is ok, but in private it's a 3 year offense?! Is the law really saying that?!"
Who is the victim of the crime?
If it's the people seeing it, depending on the norms of the room he was staying in (it's a public room; not likely if he's been there since 2006), at most it's exposure. And even then, you can't use "shock value" as a measure of severity or every Catholic school girl that walks into a normal person's house is going to create a serious offense.
Whatever judge signed off on this shouldn't be practicing law.
