I think we need more Bioshock threads here. We can decorate the forum with them. We went from halfdead to "the forum for that older game that Bioshock is a spiritual successor of".
I hope many people come by and tell us about how SS2 was way cooler. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Oh really, well then let me tell you how system shock 2 was way more cool.
There I have made a friend happy today.

Having finally played the 360 version (not at my usual PC so had to rough it!) for the first time without it crashing (hope the real things more stable..) I noticed numerous SS style elements.
1. Few survivours of a scientificly created incident, check
2. In the intro, being forced to watch someone die, check
3. Someone guiding you, that you don't know / remember, check
4. Got to get through a preassure door before getting sucked into space/sea, check
5. Ability to upgrade yourself, check
6. disgustingly mutated humans, check
well I could go on. Personally I loved it. All the elements I would want to see from a SS game were there.
One complaing. The first plasmid you get, there's no explanation of why you would use it. You have to have it to get through the door but it seems a little strange. If you were trapped in an underwater city, would you really, witout prompting, grab the first abandoned syringe and stick it in your arm.....

Since is it based around the sixties? There shouldn't be any deadly viruses around yet, maybe hepatitis C? But as usual is it a game and reality goes to that country where is very hot and filled with flames and devils and evil people.

I don't care what the year is, would you inject yourself with red coloured liquid when you have not been told what it does!
"Oh, someone has left a syringe lying around, I'll inject it and see what it does.... oh darn, it was drain drain cleaner... oh well, vita chamber time!"
That could at least had a radio message "What you see in front of you is a plasmid dispenser....."

Well, after playing the demo I think I can safely say that Ryan = Shodan...
The last scene of the demo where he locks you in the room proves it. Its Shock set in the 50's.
Man thats kind of a let down...and whats this crap of not having an inventory?! That was the BEST part about Shock! ARGH!
Anyway, you can totally tell it was designed by the same guys as System Shock 2, 110%.
I played the demo only for BioShock. When I first heard the radio talking to me, I was thinking... Must be a surprise trap to fake this like in SS2. Woah, was I right. ;)

System Shock 2 ... IS way cooler. Im not getting the same gooood feling when i played SS2 as when i play Bioshock. Why couldn´t they just have renamed SS3 to something else, and based it on SS2... would have been soo easy, yet effective.
