A lot of people seem to complain about the ending... I thought it was funny.
That's kind of the problem most people have with it, that it's cringe-inducingly hilariously bad.
NAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Then the youtube slo-mo shooting with distorted yell.

Nothing could be as bad as the ending of Half Life 1.

The thing I was already aware of the plot twist, and I never really payed a great deal of attention to the story (I found the audio logs to be far duller than Bioshock's). It wasn't such a big deal for me - even playing the game at all was something I felt I
should do, as opposed to something that really appealed to me in the first place.
Still, all told I enjoyed it. Despite the occsionally intense frustration, the gameplay was certainly unique enough to hold my attention. I do plan on playing it again with a different class, so that must say something as to its merits.
And while we're on it, I kinda liked the Half Life ending as well (Strangely enough, I found Bioshock's ending to be rather unsatisfying though...)

Finished! Shodan was easy, though I never really felt like I was super-powerful until that moment. Fortunately there were a ton of nanites in the final stage, so I stocked up on hypos. Didn't need any icepicks, either - I used my last modules on hack upgrades, and when the time came, it was a cinch.

Now I guess I'll go back and try a different field, though even if I did OSA again I think it would be quite different. I didn't really realize the usefulness of some of these powers until they end (I mean come on - when you start out, a power that says "increases your cyber-affinity by two for ten seconds + 15 seconds per PSI" is not exactly as enticing as something like SHOOT FIRE!).
Congratulations.
I kind of wish the training levels had steered new players away from OSA. As you point out, selecting from all those choices and building a good OSA character requires a lot of knowledge about the game. And the training levels make OSA sound cool, so a lot of new players choose it.
I didn't mind the ending either. It's no Deus Ex, but it's better than a lot of games.

Are you kidding? "It's time to choose" is still one of my favorite endings.
...and count me in as loving the SS2 ending, for whatever reason.

Agree to both.
As for SS2, the ending
when the girl starts talking all creepy and morphs into shodan, laughing
left me with chills on me back :o

The Half-Life ending is a love it or hate it ending. GameSpot used to have this TenSpot feature, like the 10 best or worst endings, game characters, soundtracks, etc. The Half-Life ending was both in the reader's choice top 10for best ending and in the reader's choice top 10 for worst ending.

Aja, which one of the 2 endings did you get?
I've only seen one. I'll have to replay and get the other
Don't forget that the ending changes depending if you harvest the little sisters or save them!
HL1 was annoying to me. I would rather have had a decent ending if you chose not to go with the guy. Not just a never ending impossible battle. Perhaps you start that way but get rescued by the good doctor and barney.
HL2, well we all knew it would be a cliff hanger if not for episodes, for HL3.
SS2. I just wish the avatar had a better line then naaaaa. The problem is that all the ones I've heard suggested here were as bad or worse!

I think that's kinda the point. It's something that someone would really say, and not some stupid, cheesy one-liner he couldn't have come up with in one second.
