This is incredibly freaking retarded!
I installed Bioshock with no problem, then applied the 1.1 patch. However, I cannot actually configure any game options. From "Graphics Options" on the game menu, for example, I set my desired resolution, but the setting always reverts to 1024x768. I enable EAX from "Audio Options" but, again, that setting reverts from "Yes" back to the default "No". There is no obvious "Apply" button on the screen. Other configuration problems:
- "Customize Controls" does not have an option to actually customize the keyboard settings!
- Each time I launch the game, I have to sit through the same 30-60 seconds of annoying credits, NVidia logo, etc., as if launching for the first time.
Any help?
EDIT: Discovered -nointro command-line option; that shuts up the stupid 30-60 second credits, logo, etc. As for the missing Apply button and Customize Keyboard button, they are *offscreen*! I'm having to hunt-and-click for them. Ken Levine, if you're reading, this is one hell of an amateurish oversight!

Okay, I found the Apply button by moving the mouse down and to the left offscreen and left-clicking. Now that I've set the display resolution to match my monitor (1920x1080), I can see everything onscreen.
Sorry to come across as crabby or irritated. This same issue occurred when I dl'ed and installed the official demo, as well. I'm surprised that testing didn't catch this.

I had something of the same issue, but my problem was that I applied the wrong patch version. I should have applied the German/English 1.1 patch instead of the Worldwide version that I originally thought I should apply. That made the menu behave in a very creepy way and the game behave even creepier. Your problem was weird though.

If you use the continue game button from the main menu it resets the configuration to the default settings, does it in v1.1, the way round it is to load your last save.
Same with if you die in game and get sent to one of those chambers it sometimes resets the game settings to default, some of the quests you get to do sometimes reset the game to the default settings, especially ones that mention following the quest arrow to the goal of the quest, if you have the quest arrow set to off, those quest turn it back on.
Testing probably didn't catch it as testing was done on the xbox version.
