I can but Im gonna need your complete and exact system specs..

Hi Shocker
I will still need more detail, make & model of the following components:
Case, Psu, mobo, mem, Hdd, dvdrom, sound etc
regarding that BFG card, Ive learnt something about
rebates recently
* it can void the ability to return the item inside the return period.
* it can void the manufacturers warranty altogether, so if the items becomes faulty your f*****
I was never a fan of rebates because they represented an unknown, now I know why...!!! also consider you can overclock a GTX280 to match GTX285 speeds.

I found some more info about your Hp desktop pc, while the motherboard can accommodate a GTX280, I'm afraid the case isnt big enough or has enough airflow, the GTX will overheat. And the power supply is no where near powerful enough((
http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/productimage/83-107-732-13.jpg) its a cheap chinese 385W unit btw, not 420) and wont have enough PCI-E power connectors.
If your on a budget and wont to keep the computer and just upgrade the gfx card:Then your upgrade options consist of only the (
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161245) ATi HD4850(which is faster than the 9800GT) as there isnt a faster single slot card that has only 1 pci-e power connector that I know of. And that 4850 blows the air out the back of the case.
If you can splash out a bit:then a new case and PSU will be in order and I can advise on that, but I will need a budget..
PS. what sized monitor are you using..? as your current card maybe fast enough for that size of screen.

Isn't 16.61" x 15.51" x 7.00" large enough for a GTX 285? I would of course upgrade the PSU and would be willing to spend perhaps US$100 on that.

Your current case is too cramped and wont allow near enough ariflow through. Your underestimating just how hot these cards get, they idle at 50-60c and 80-90c under load, this huge amount of extra heat inside a small case will over heat everything(CPU/Mem/Mobo/Psu) and then inevitably a crash due to the thermal overload of the system.
And as thr GTX200 series card are dual slot, the fan end of the card would be wedged in between the CDRom and HardDrive bays, restricting the airflow even more. Trust me on this, you will need to upgrade the
case and the PSU if you want a GTX200 card.

Well, it's a good thing I haven't ordered the GPU/PSU yet. Altogether, for the GPU + PSU + case, I would want to spend perhaps something under US$450.

Sweet-looking machine, ere, Biker. So, you're a DIY'er when it comes to your machines, too? Bitchin! I just love to tinker with the specs... even if I can't afford it. :cheeky: Gives me somethin to strive for, ya know?

Ok I'll scare up a spec for you today.
