The Daily Mail's editorial purpose, it's very raison d'etre, is to OUTRAGE.
You read it, you find yourself OUTRAGED.
Yes, tabloids do that to people. They do it to me all the time, which is why I don't read them.
insert "oh ffs the modern media world aggravates me to no end" rant here

Really? Intensive care and not just the hospital? That is some serious badness going on up there. Where was this? Any suspects at the moment?
Hmm, well I don't know if you are familiar with the locality, but it was in West Derby, which isn't even a particularly bad area, although I guess this sort of thing can happen anywhere. He just got attacked by a gang of kids outside a chip shop (not that he remembers any of it; all this info comes from the witnesses). They did MRI scans and he's okay, just very bruised and swollen and has a perforated eardrum.

If he A) doesn't remember the attack, implying he was knocked out and/or concussed, and B) has a perforated ear drum, I'd say he's pretty damned far from ok. I hope they find the cocksuckers who did this and turn them inside out. I fucking hate this kind of pack-animal cowardice.

So why don't you take a group of 10 large friends and quietly patrol the suburbs looking for gangs of 5 or less people beating up on someone, then beat the shit out of them? Obviously the cops can't handle it, and people aren't allowed to carry weapons of any sort (which means your chavs most likely will be carrying a weapon of some sort) -- why hasn't somebody done something about it? Is the government supposed to?
oudeis on 18/9/2006 at 23:16
Oh do shut the absolute fuck up. Who did you think I meant by 'they'? The Men in Black? Giant ants? I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE COPS YOU CUNTARD. Spare me your attempts at moral superiority and at sarcasm.

what, and chavs aren't people you hateful fuck?
Phydeaux on 18/9/2006 at 23:27
He's saying that the chavs won't care about the "rules" and still carry weapons. The whole "if guns are outlawed only outlaws will carry guns" axiom/cliche. Which of course (despite being cliche) is true and especially evident in the UK's society where they've given up their rights to defend themselves in exchange for the illusion of safety.
Hm, deja vu. Seems like we've had this conversation before. Wasn't really what I intended by bringing this news story here, I was more thinking about the whole Orwellian Big Brother thing with the Government inserting itself further and further into a person's daily life, even if it's just walking to the chemists to buy some smokes.

ouedis: I guess you missed the intentional bit of irony near the part you quoted or something. It's no fun if I enclose things in irony tags.
From what I understand from friends that have lived around there telling me stories, chavs are alcoholic or otherwise junkie youth who have no place in a community. So they aren't people in the sense that community people think of people, at least.

yeah, l was trying to be sarcastic back :erg: . I've read about chavs before this.
if your post was meant ironically then l'm sorry l blew up. l just absolutely loathe shpos like the ones that attacked stronzio's friend (besides, isn't being his friend punishment enough? :ebil: ). l've known asswipes like those before and they make my blood boil.

Is anyone afraid you have all the passtime peepers joining up this big brother service? I mean, think of the interview questions "Are you ok with watching strangers with an overhead camera for 8 hours a day?"

Yelling 'Oi you, stop that', is not permitted...
