Bible, a source of ethical values? (Warning, religious thoughts!) - by Gorgonseye

It's bad form to edit posts for content after someone has replied.
There are many things you are clearly getting wrong but this one is within your ability to get right.

You're right, of course, but take heart, young buck, for I only added to it to cover the posts which appeared while I was replying. No harm done. You're incoherent at best anyway, regardless of whether or not the root of the discussion is still visible. Nevertheless I shall be vigilant in the future.

I misspoke. Clearly you are a Very Unique Individual who isn't afraid to Stand Up and Be Counted.
Tell ya what, "young buck" (if you call Stitch that again, I'll have to stab you in your spleen) - how about you go back and read more than just the first post before you start Telling Us All How It Is, and maybe I won't be quite so sponge like toward you.
Then again, if you admit to listening to Cradle of Filth, I may find it difficult to soak up any of your sage like wisdom anyway.

... if I used Manson lyrics in my post, it was completely unintentional. He is a pretty smart guy though, just listen to him on 'Bowling for Columbine'. (I hate Michael Moore by the way)...
Wasn't it a hoot when Marilyn Manson sounded like a Mensa candidate, and Britney Spears, whom at the time was unconsidered "America's Sweetheart," could do nothing more than crack her gum and make some inane comment. Priceless moment. :thumb:
BTW: as an aside, I (unfortunately) know Michael Moore. And, I have to say, he is a complete ass. For the longest time, since Roger and Me, he was a huge hero (no pun intended) of mine--for many, many years. But, after working for him and truly getting to see him away from the marketed persona, I have to say that he is all about the money and self promotion. Sad, but true.
But, back on topic, truly nothing inspires more hatred toward fellow human beings than a good religion, or at least a religious discussion. Bring up any subject that is religious in theme, and people start lining up on either side itching for a fight.
It's almost as if people in this society no longer want to discuss thoughts and ideas, taking anything they disagree with as a personal attack against themselves.
For those that believe in God, it seems that many of the extremely religious folk (and I mean nutty talking in tongues or looking to hook up with seventy virgins, folks) so desperately want to believe in a God, or the rhetoric, that they are willing to protect that belief from outside influences with an unparalleled viciousness. They will hold on to their beliefs no matter what--with whatever means necessary. And sadly that protection sometimes comes in the form of violence, contrary to the supposed teachings of these religions. God tells me I should not harm my fellow human being, but if that person says there is no God then all bets are off. Facts or ideas can be disputed, but a belief is what makes a person who they are--and beliefs can be a dangerous thing because of that simple truth.
But, at the same time, there are those on the other end of the spectrum that can be just as zealous in their need to spread the word dispelling God that they could give even the most devoted missionary a serious run for his money. Some of these nuts would rather light up a Christian than discuss enlightenment.
And it's sad that we have become so polarized. People are not only no longer interested in what the other guy thinks, they could care less if the other guy exists. It's a self-centered piousness. I blame Wal-Mart.
It's okay to be religious, just as it's okay to not be so. It's when the belief either way prevents civility--well, that's when humanity is at its worst. And if that lack of civility inspires hatred, that's when God truly doesn't exist.
But if amid all the hatred God does exist and approves of it, then spike the Kool-Aid and set fire to the nearest Christian because they burn the brightest. :ebil:

That might have been me. I read Cradle of Filth and Michael Moore in the same paragraph and my electrolytes got all wonky there for a sec.
