Sad news.
Ferris Bueller is one of those films you had to have seen at the time. I recently watched it again with my girlfriend. I had a great time; she thought it was mediocre.

I thought FB was vacuous, to be honest. In fact it was a celebration of vacuousness. Kinda pro-vacuous propaganda. Go forth and be vacuous, kids of America! Sarah Palin probably keeps a copy in her VHS collection.

I think jay's last post alone goes pretty far in showing why we're not in much better position to stand on high and look down on the 80s as vacuous. Even knowing what FB stands for it still screams FaceBook.
I always think of
Ferris and
War Games as the yin and yang of the Matthew Broderick school of 80s highschoolism ... independent, playful, skeptical that the system is really better for us, clever, tech-savvy, and willing to take risks to do the right thing. It's just which part you want to play up, the clever, tech-savvy part or the independent, playful part, but the two come together.

I prefer Ally Sheedy over Molly Ringwald. Always did. And time has proven me right. Watch "High Art".

And now that Wille DeVille has passed on, who will be the third?

Heard on NPR just yesterday that Home Alone remains the most watched live action comedy ever.

Just hold the grenade. Preferably in your pants.
Now, the 90s? The 90s sucked balls.

Home Alone - young boy tortures burglars. To this day, one of the most violent movies I've ever seen.
Yes, post of the year! And classic SD. Just beautiful.
