So one of the main things I dislike about Oblivion is the way your character gains skills/levels. I *MUCH* prefer the more traditional RPG character advancement system, that is, I like to gain experience points and then manually allocate skill/attribute points once I hit a new level.
Are there any mods out there that do this? Boy do I hope so...

There are plenty of mods that will change the rate at which skills increase, but I don't think there are any of the variety you describe. Maybe Oblivion isn't really your game?
Personally I think Oblivion's skill advancement system (with a few tweaks from mods like OOO or Adventurer's) is second to none. Your character advances in the style that you play. That's what role playing should be all about.

I've personally never understood how killing a monster with a weapon allows you pick locks better, perhaps that's just me?
But yeah, I haven't seen a mod that does that either.

I agree, it is rediculous to score points, say, fighting and then split them between other skills. In Oblivion it is a logical system - skills you train the most get better.

Having said that, it's not without it's faults. Other RPG systems, like D&D and SPECIAL have a lot of perks. Perks, get it?
Please don't shoot me...
It's better with mods but I hate how much Oblivion encourages you to always play the jack of all trades.
