My best friend is moving to Japan permanently and giving me his pentium 3 Windows 98 retro gaming rig w/ a 17" CRT monitor and Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick. Installed on it are Diablo I and II, Starcraft, Age of Empires 2, Civ 2, Tomb Raider I-III, FF7 and FF8, Croc, Mechwarrior 2 and 3, Half Life, and Serious Sam 1 and 2.
I plan to add Thief Gold and Thief 2 as well as whatever fan missions will run.
What other games should I install?
EDIT: Some other games are installed: Star Wars Episode 1 Racer, Shadows of the Empire, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace the Game, Riven, Myst, The Journeymen Project 3, Unreal, and Red Alert 2.

If you like turn-based strategy, check out Spellcross.

Since it's a Win98 machine, it should also be able to natively run just about any DOS game you can get your hands on.

Depending on the sound card, that is.
I'm quite fond of Populous 3, myself. Obvious other choices are any Infinity Engine game or Fallout game prior to 3. Quake 1/2 of course. Jedi Knight. Any of the old Need for Speed games. And Outlaws.

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine! I don't think that game works on anything post 98.

Off the top of my head, GTA 1-2, Homeworld, Descent, Baulder's Gate...

Dark Reign. That game can be a real bitch to get working on anything beyond Win 98.

System Shock 2, but I don't think it'll run well with all the graphics mods that are available. Choose wisely, maybe just SHTUP.

What DOS games are worth checking out? Do they all work on Win98?
I actually got Master of Magic back in the 90s but I couldn't my figure out how to install it on Windows 95. Didn't realize running DOS was possible back then.
My friend was planning on adding DOS but probably spent more time installing his old collection than actually playing it - so he lost interest. Still, very fun for the occasional nostalgia trip!

Battlezone.
It's even just been re-released on steam. Can't figure out why nobody has been talking about it.
