Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is quite a scary, atmospheric game. I recommend it :thumb:

So the 2 things that makes it really scary where only there for technical reasons!
Although I'm the first to jump on the train that puts Shock2 above Silent Hill, I got to bow to devs who manage to use platform flaws as well as advantages to good use in their games. There are entire communities and certain DJ's that go chiptune because of the limitations of the Game Boy and other old hardware capability. Sometimes limitations in space and technology actually produce innovation rather than cap it. In that respect, Shock1 deserves all the fanboy love it gets on these here forums.
And even when limitations don't add to gameplay, as in Shock2's horrible models, it's great to see that enthusiasts can make up for it, as with the Shock2 model update.
And though I can't add a rec for horror games that hasn't been added here (tho i did introduce Penumbra to these here forums), I can suggest (
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/bad-mojo-redux) Bad Mojo as a relatively short, heavily atmospheric, enjoyable, and above all entirely
sensible puzzle-filled adventure game.
as i have apparently drunken myself, i hope the above makes sense this tuesday morning.

Another good one thats not so much scary but insanely creepy is
American McGee's Alice
The thing is just twisted, try and get the original game rather than a download as the manual itself is actually worth a read

I've played that game before, and I agree that it was an...unusual game. :o

QUESTION: Can you reccomend any scary PC games to me? I'm starting to play Resident Evil 3 tomorrow and have played RE2 before. I know it's nothing like good 'ol SS the master but anything?

Has some spoilers, but includes most of the games mentioned here.

THE most scary moment while playing SS2 was when I was playing in headphones with the lights out and my sister was nice enough to sneak up on me... I was like Jesus f**k s**t!! I almost died from the heart attack. :p
As funny as it may be, it just shows how much of a great game SS2 is - I got sucked into the SS2 world so ddeply that I completely forgot about the real world surrounding me.

Hehe... I know what that feels like
And thanks for all the tips people. I just got *the thing* but I'm definately gonna put all these games on my *to d- err... play list* =)
And yeah Call of Chulthu and Mgee Alice I have heard of before and they seem like very good games. Even the cockroach as it seems to be that kinda old one screen at a time game, it's got teh spirit! :p

I get sucked into a lot of different games. I remember when my mom decided to rest her hand on my shoulder. Without any peripheral vision, it startled me very much.

For me it was the "Soon you will be the mother of them all" vision, with the nurse being strapped down onto the medical bed. And all the chatter from the Many. The cyberwives especially stayed with me. And little phrases in the message pads. "The captain and I are now of one mind" etc.
I found AvP scary, but only when playing as marine and even then mainly because it draws on the atmosphere of the films.
I didn't find Undying scary, but it is one of the most cinematic games I've played.
