No man, I'm from 1967, and I can tell there are not many other movies (of that era) that had superb effects and not many except maybe for Barbarella exceed the LSD tolerance levels.
About the monkeys, yes we know we were monkeys, and many of us still are today, just look at murders, rape, violence on news, and then you tell us why we do not need to be recalled of our animal behavior, we have it everyday, when you have sex you're a "fucking" monkey, and you actually look like one.
Sorry but is it like that, yes, a banana anyone?

Kubrick's another one whose love I just don't get. He's got an enviable track record with some genuine classics but I really can't see this supernatural genius that so many ascribe to him. He's a craftsman among many as far as I'm concerned.
Many? I can't count more than 5-8 who can be compared with him in terms of creating as involving, atmospheric, and not banal movies. Many directors created one or two masterpieces among a number of so-so flicks, but only a few created virtually only masterpieces.

And Kubrick is not one of them. Sorry.

Just name films you sincerely like the most, for a test. Not Kubrick's.

Funny story.
A LAN party maybe 8 years ago. We were kind of gamed out by this point in the proceedings, it was the second day in and our alcohol tolerance was also reaching its zenith after the festivities of the night before and the continuance til that point. I think it was around midnight that one of my friends recommend we watch "the only comedy Stanley Kubrick ever made". Well, that should be awesome we agreed (because we were all big Full Metal Jacket fans).
What was the movie?
Barry Lyndon.
Don't ask me how my friend got this idea into his head. We sat there, struggling to make sense of where the humour was in about fifteen minutes of warfare set to a classical dirge, but we were so drunk that it didn't immediately register that we were absolutely not watching anything remotely comedic. That friend got swore at sideways for wasting our time, then I think we watched South Park: The Movie.

It'd be unfair of me to name just two or three or even five, since I've seen a great deal of movies. So here's a list of some of my favourite foreign and domestic films from all eras.
Stalker
28 Days Later (and its sequel, for similar and different reasons)
The Dark Knight
Blade Runner
The original Night of the Living Dead
Citizen Kane
Alien trilogy, especially the first one
Jacob's Ladder (aka the movie ripped off by all 90s Japanese horror, which is now being ripped off by American horror)
Apocalypse Now
Videodrome
Tetsuo (The Iron Man)
A Scanner Darkly
Does this pass muster or am I an unintelligent hick who wouldn't know a good movie if it bit him in the ass?
(just FYI I refuse to watch Tetsuo alone)

I just wiki'd Tetsuo and realised that I might have to see this. It sounds like it might be hilarious or mind-scarring.
