Not quite, I'm afraid. Len also released this: (

Walking on sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
I don't know all that much about Katrina and the Waves' release history, but they did also have "Love Shine A Light". I'll admit I can't remember where it placed in the UK charts, but it won us the Eurovision Song Contest in 1997 at any rate.

Alphaville - Forever Young
Alphaville's greatest hit was actually Big in Japan, and Sounds Like a Melody also reached higher chart positions in most of continental Europe than Forever Young did. So, not really a one-hit wonder, either.
I've been thinking about a number of other one-hit wonders, but when I go fact-checking them on Wikipedia, it seems most of them hat at least one more major hit, and that the song I'm thinking of often wasn't their most successful one. For instance:
SNAP - The Power (they also had a hit with Rhythm is a Dancer)
Skunk Anansie - Hedonism (they had several other hits)
Heroes del Silencio - Entre dos tierras (apparently wasn't even much of a hit, outside a select few European countries)
Just shows how selective our perception can be, I guess.
But a real one-hit wonder that hasn't been mentioned yet is (

I totally agree. Sometimes I'm only aware of one song that an artist has ever released, and I'm quite ignorant to the fact that there are others out there. For example:
Quote:
Skunk Anansie - Hedonism (they had several other hits)
Looks like we both assumed Skunk Anansie were one-hit wonders, but with completely different songs. The only one of theirs I know is "Weak" - I didn't have a clue about any others they'd released.
Quote:
SNAP - The Power (they also had a hit with Rhythm is a Dancer)
And "Do You See The Light?" - it was even re-released in (IIRC) 2002, with a new mix by "Snap vs Plaything".
Quote:
Heroes del Silencio - Entre dos tierras
(apparently wasn't even much of a hit, outside a select few European countries) This bit is a good point - do we count one-hit wonders as artists who only released one single and were then never heard from again? Or who might have released more, yet only one ever had any acknowledgement?
On this point, I finally came up with a suggestion of my own for the list: (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz4eHPD40w4) Lou Bega - "Mambo No. 5". It can't be counted as a one-hit wonder in terms of it being the only single that Lou Bega ever released, but it's certainly the only one that ever had any success that I'm aware of. He did bring out a follow-up single called "I've Got A Girl" but it never even got in the Top 40 - which seemed to surprise a lot of people as they were all expecting it to be another success.

Urgh, just realised it's a
best one hit wonder thread. I need to read more carefully. I take back posting Crash Test Dummies in that case. I hate that song. Sorry Sulphur.
Heh, no issues. We can agree to disagree after all. It's always going to be one of my favourites because it's gloriously ridiculous.
Also to mollify Eva a little, here's a New Zealand one-hit wonder that popped into my head: (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfJe8hQ8ha0) How Bizarre - OMC. Can't say it's a favourite, but it's a cute song. :thumb:
D'Juhn Keep on 19/11/2009 at 16:56
That was a hit in the UK as well
Being in the US, Stitch is totally missing out

Sleeping Satellite - Tasmin Archer
I've loved this song since I first heard it and has earned its place on my Spotify playlist. It might have been a rumour but I seem to remember that she used some of the money she made off the back of it to take singing lessons.

Negatory, Otara Music Club were a TWO-HIT Wonder. They had two number 1's in the US.

These guys are one of those Canadian rock bands that have showed up to every local festival and party around here in southern Ontario for maybe the last 20 years or so, but their actual output and fame is pretty mediocre.
Oh, and fett if you are a true prog-rock fan, then tell me you recognize Argent as being quality. Some people might consider them as a one-hit wonder, with "Hold Your Head Up" but I personally (and many others) celebrate them as being so much more than that.
Yeah- HS are nothing to write home about, but they had some pretty catchy songs, now that I'm going back and listening to them a bit. New Girl Now is one of those "sleeper" hits that people recognize but don't expect to hear in a club, so that's always cool.
I haven't listened to Argent very consistently, but there's clearly some good prog stuff going on there, even if you listen closely to Hold Your Head Up. Which album would you recommend? There are several bands that are not really in the "prog" camp but have those tendencies and I really like most of them - King's X, Winger (post-2002), Jellyfish, Galactic Cowboys, etc.

No they didn't.
