I'm currently playing DX on Windows XP, with an nVidia Geforce 4 MX440. I typically get BSODs randomly, where the BSOD reports the nVidia DLL file failing. I'm using the latest nVidia driver.
Just asking, can anyone recommend a good nVidia driver to use with DX? When DX was released, what nVidia driver was out at the time? I'll use Windows 98 to install a different version of nVidia drivers.
Your help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Your card wasn't even out at the time DX was, altho Gf4 MX is actually based on Gf2 tech. I would just try older drivers until it works. Try the ones that came with your card first and keep going upwards until one works. Try (
http://www.guru3d.com) here for the older drivers
Other things to try are games of the same engine (UT, WOT, Unreal, Undying, etc) or demos or whatever to see if the problem is there also. Software mode too.
If you're desperate, you could try (
http://cwdohnal.home.mindspring.com/temp/dxglr099.zip) this (I'm assuming you're using D3D) It's an enhanced OpenGL renderer for DX. Makes things look a tad nicer too. :)

Cool, I'll try the OpenGL thing. I never did like DX anyway.
Plus it's hard to try drivers 'till it works, 'cus it crashes randomly. Sometimes after 10 minutes, others after 3 hours!

Do you have the latest drivers from the nVidia website or from Windows Update?
They are almost the same but not quite. Try uninstalling the driver and running Windowsupdate.
