Well, to the best of my knowledge, it never said in the game that she was Israeli. And I don't think Anna or Navarre are particulary Jewish names.

well, for me it is a tie between Gunther, Jock, and Tong.
Gunther: i can truly feel his pain. i just kill-switched Anna. But when i met Gunther in the castle/cathedral i had to give him a warrior's death. a death by the hands of my shotgun (unlike Simons who i just GEP'd.).
Jock: he was the only character i truly trusted through the entire game. he never lied to me. he was always there in game. i would have actually gone out of my way to save his ass.
Tong: sure i never truly trusted him. but he never used me. when he helped me, he just requested a favor (which got me a dragon's tooth and later the chance to kill maggie).

I'm probably just recalling the source of info wrong. In fact you just made my point stronger: the only thing suggesting her lineage in anyway isn't even found in game.

i think that all the NPCs close to JC did it for me. when i had to try and save Paul, i wussied out and ran out that window like hell. he died, it was my fault. then later, i failed to save Jock. he exploded in mid air, just as our fight was finally over. The way I saw it now, JC was looking for blood and revenge, for all that he had lost.
but what other game can give you that feeling? :)
