So, who is the best NPC in Deus Ex?
In my opinion, Gunther is. He is just so cool and looks nice as well..(not like that way  ) I mean he is huge..

There all pretty stupid. Probably Navarre since what she said and her accent cracked me up.

Walton Simons, clearly.
"If you recall our chat in the breakroom at UNATCO, you know I have the same augmentations as you."
"Then this should be a good fight."
"Mmm, except I have a newer version of the hardware."
Classic stuff.
My other favorite would have to be Miguel, simply because his inclusion in the game is so random.
"You must escape from this place and find Tracer Tong. Oh, here's a man with an outrageous accent. Ta ta."

Walter Simons is cool, I also like the 'Elvis bum' behind the basketball court.
The hooker in Hong Kong is cool too. I know being aroused by video game characters is pretty sad, but Ion Storm did a fine job :cheeky:
Best. Simulated Boobies. Evar!

I'm not sure about Gunther - he seems pretty fucked towards the end, with loads of psychological problems. I remember a MJ12 Trooper reporting to have seen him crying... big German ponce. But yeah, he is a pretty cool character.
Other than that, i'd have to say that lass in the nightclub in HK that follows you around (name escapes me at the moment) - she's dreamy...;)
Stainboy.

That's what makes him interesting. He's really a simple man, loyal and utterly dedicated to a noble goal but duped and betrayed by the evil people around him. Tragic. One of my favorite scenes - Anna and Gunther at the soda machine, "they know I like orange".

Don't think that was an MJ12 Trooper - IIRC, it was the WIB (Woman In Black). I was so touched by her empathy (weakness) for Gunther that I spared her alone of all the MJ12 troops, commandos, agents, and bosses in the game.

Is itpossible not to kill him? To just have him fall unconscious?

You can also beat him up enough that he runs from you, muttering about his skull-gun, although I think that may be crueler than killing him, since he has to be wallowing in his inferiority complex by that point.

Speaking of Gunther, I once managed to make him drop his flamethrower by repeatedly stabbing him in the arm. He ran all around the cathedral until I finally backed him into a corner. He then actually said "No please!" and just stood there staring at me. Man, I felt so sorry for him I just left him alone. The instant I started walikng back to the computer room, he started shooting me with his Assault rifle (apparently he had been too dumb to use it before)!
At first I thought some turret had gone crazy, and I made the dumb mistake of looking up instead of running. Two seconds later my legs were missing...I then decided to see what Gunther was doing. Boy I was mad when I saw the source of the bullets!!! Of course, by then, he had killed me (Realistic). I learned a valuable lesson that day: never trust a german with a gun...
