Never Wanted to Dance by Mindless Self Indulgence
It was like the only good song on their new cd called If.

Well, I have been utterly unable to get Adem's cover of Aphex Twins' "To cure a weakling child & Boy/Girl Song" out of my head for any decent length of time since hearing it a couple weeks ago, so I guess I'm going to have to add that one to the list.

In Silico by Pendulum tops my list so far this year. Once again they've served us up another cd full of dirty, dancy and expansive drum'n'bass with a hint of rock in the mix. Here's the video for Propane Nightmares, watch it.

Vivian, yeah, that Matmos album is very good, I've been listening to it a lot. One of the tracks in particular strikes me as sounding very much like early 70's-era WEndy Carlos.
I also have been enjoying Crystal Castles and No Age, which could be the only thing Stitch and I have in common.;)
M83's "Saturdays=Youth" is worth a listen. I might have to check out their earlier albums.
Bauhaus' "Go Away White" is nowhere near as good as their earlier albums, but has a certain charm to it I find hard to describe.
Nurse With Wound's "Huffin' Rag Blues", despite the silly title, could be the most straight-ahead, conventional album that "they" have ever put out, but as a surreal take on the lounge/exotica genre it's an interesting listen.
NIN's "The Slip" is fairly unmemorable.
I guess my favorite album so far this year is the new Madonna. The last 3 tracks are kind of weak but the first 9 tracks are almost insanely catchy. THough I have to say it's not quite as unified as her last album, and truth be told it's the kind of album she could probably do in her sleep these days. But those first nine tracks are great, esp. "Heartbeat", "Miles Away", and "Incredible".

Aja mentioned Fleet Foxes. I bought their cd on the strength of a review in Mojo and it's a revelation. It's steeped in beach boys, CSNY etc but in no way sounds dated. Beautiful songs, gorgeous harmonies.
On the old git front I've bought every Wedding Present album released and El Rey whilst no way classic is still pretty darn good. Not as immediate as most of their stuff though.
Half Man Half Biscuit's CSI Ambleside is good for a laugh too.

Wolf Parade's 'At Mount Zoomer' - a cracking sophomore from one of the only bands who have survived that wave of breakthroughs a few years ago. They've got a super-cool indie darling future ahead of them and are really worth checking out. I can't find much off their new album online (I have a vinyl obsession), but one of my favourites off their old one is (

I am going to have to try out the Matmos disc, because I've heard an awful of positive waffle when their name comes up

"You are a runner and I am my father's son" of the first Wolf Parade album is one of the most played songs on my iPod. It's on one of my favourite playlists just before "House of Jealous Lovers" by The Rapture. The build up at the end of "You are a runner..." melds really nicely with the screeching at the beginning of "House of...". :)
Digging those Crystal Castles and The Roots songs, will have to check out the albums.
One to add to my list: (

Holy crap. Thanks for that link. Though not for the song itself, but for the links of songs attached to that clip from the same album. I didn`t know the B52`s had released a new album. There are some damn fine songs on that album. The youtube vids (using clips from old movies) for songs from the album are top class.
My fav of the lot. Dancing:

The video for that is so fucking excellent that I thought it was the real video to the song at first, before I remembered that a few of the actors in that one are a hell of alot older now. Goes perfect with the music. Excellent excellent video.
