Or you might be having a different issue entirely.
Yeah apparently there was a key that I needed hidden behind some painting. Clever design ;) Had to check the walkthrough.
Anyway in Buenos Aires now, I'll play further later.
Also is there a mod there that does have voice acting? Seems a little quiet now.

...and some levels that feature the exact same empty room clonestamped 50 times.
Where was that?

It's odd how ZylonBane attacks Redsun for having copy/pasted rooms, but praises ZODIAC, even though it also has that problem. I've come across several areas that seemed to have been copied DIRECTLY from Deus Ex, with some minor adjustments only. Vandenberg's "Communication Building" has been copied, as well as the inside (and outside) of Lebedev's airplane, as well as the showers from the MJ12 Facility in Hong Kong.
It doesn't bother me all too much because it blends in, but it's still pretty cheap.
edit: And I must add ZODIAC is incoherent at times as well. That level where I had to infiltrate some facility.. As soon as I got in, my objective was "GET TO THE SURFACE" - then why did I go in in the first place? And to get to the surface, I had to go 4 levels below the ground first, then take another elevator up to get up. How does that make any sense? Are you telling me there is only one elevator to the surface in the entire base, and that it is on a "restricted access" floor?

Sangman, you really, really, need to work on your English comprehension skills, because you've utterly failed to understand my complaint about Redsun.
The problem with Redsun is that, in general, the maps are much bigger than they have any reason to be. There's tons of "dead" space that serves no plot or gameplay purpose whatsoever. Pretty much every office building map is filled with clone-stamped offices with nothing in them. The underground mall is an uninteresting, underlit, repetitive maze.
And that's another thing-- at least one of the mappers on Redsun seemed convinced that it's great fun to spend extended periods of time running around maze-like environments in the dark. Well, it's not. In fact it's pretty damn annoying.

Right. Well anyway, completed ZODIAC, got pretty interesting once the whole "alien war" thing came into play. Level design was pretty bland mostly, some maps were nothing more than a few big rooms with hallways connecting them (like that big ZODIAC facility with the 4 sublevels, and the bunker where you'll find Mead). Still there was some interesting design, for example the first map, as well as the "reactor" area in the last map. The Air Base also looked really nice.
I think the best part of the mod is the music, though. Really nice.
A fun way to waste your time ;)
Considering what you said about Redsun I'm not sure if I want to give it a go, however 2 people have voted for it so I don't know if it's as bad as you say it is.

Redsun 2020 may be incoherent (it is, it definitely is), but it's also got some of the best environments I've seen in Deus Ex. I think it deserves some kudos just for being a real challenge. But Zodiac is easily the best mod out there. Hotel Carone is good too, now there's a coherent mission.

Even though it was entertaining it'd be pretty sucky if ZODIAC was the best the Deus Ex mod community has to offer. Must mean everything else sucks ;)
Started playing through Hotel Carone. Only complaint I have is that the save games are huge, and loading takes too long. I died 2 times in a row and spent at least 2 minutes reloading. Still, so far the level design is A LOT better than Zodiac's.

You don't need to start insulting people when they question you, Zylon. The office complex was great fun. A lot of the offices had characters in them that you could speak to (or overhear), and in some cases it was quite funny. But I think that having some offices that you can go in and explore is better than having about 50 locked doors and one single office you can go in to complete the objective. I agree about the underground mall though - that was an awful level. The rest were quite fun though.
(

I played Redsun2020 twice and enjoyed it each time. The mapping is great, the environments are large and believable. The underground mall is creepy and fun. The so-called c&p rooms are in the abandoned areas of the map and serve their purpose well. I'd say that the last underground area's confusing but once you know where to go it's totally obvious.
I've also played Carone but never bothered installing Zodiac (I played the 1st map when it was release standalone and didn't like it). Carone's mapping is ambitious but ultimately amateurish.
You can visit Redsun's forum (
http://www.network54.com/Forum/122246/) here. There's a very good reason why people still drop in to say hi there after 3 years of frontpage inactivity.
As for Zylon, he just yells the loudest. There's really no reason not to try Redsun if you enjoy Deus Ex.

Could be, but I'm not interested in high-res projects.
I did hear of this.. Deus Ex (remake?) mod for Unreal Tournament 2004.. Don't know what's up with that. Saw 2 movies of it, from the looks of it it's still heavily in construction. Dunno.
Anyway once I get past Hotel Carone (or once I get fed up with the long load times) I'll try Redsun.
edit: Played more HC but I'm stuck. There are 3 businessmen left to save, but I have no idea where they are. Also I've been going around the garage "defusing" the explosives by moving the TNT boxes but the objective doesn't disappear. So either I've missed some crates - dunno where they are in that case - Or I have to move them someplace else.
