Meaning, black should be black - not any of those shades of grey/milky black that pass for black. :nono: So, any recommendations? :) What specs should i look for?

In before Biker... (edit - arse!)
Black perception is relative to ambient light, a red herring and not worth getting too hung up over. There's no harm in seeking out darker blacks, but the easiest way of getting black blacks is to increase ambient light - switch a light on.
Very poor viewing angles and poor contrast will ruin Thief. You should be alright with most half-decent midrange screens in these modern days.

Man, i don't think i like these E-IPS panels enough to spend a months' salary on one. My options are limited to these:
Dell 1909W
Samsung 933
Samsung T190
Viewsonic 1918/21/28
LG W1941S
Acer V193W
Can i get a recommendation? T190 has dynamic contrast. Is this a good thing?

Hi there
Ive you give me a week or so I will review all of the monitors in your list and give you an answer.

Thanks man. I was in two minds to get the T190 on Saturday, but i guess i can wait another week or so for an informed opinion before taking the plunge. Xbitlabs says it's good with good black levels, but Amazon complains of horrible backlight bleeding. It gets confusing.

Right...
I did a very basic google search:-
Dell 1909W -
TN, 1000:1, 5ms, 160/160View, DVI, VGA, 4xUSB,
Samsung 933 -
TN, 1000:1, 5ms, 160/160View, VGA,
Samsung T190 -
TN, 1000:1, 2ms, 170/160View, DVI, VGA,
Viewsonic 1918/21/28 -
TN, 700:1, ?ms, 170/160View, DVI, VGA,
LG W1941S -
TN, 1000:1, 5ms, 160/160View, VGA,
Acer V193W -
TN, 1000:1, 5ms, 176/176View, VGA,
On paper as they are all prety equal (bar the Veiwsonic) I would choose the Dell. I have used Dells over the years and they do what it says in the tin, but the Dell has the most features and in my mind looks the best.
