I just played "The Unwanted Guest", the T2 demo from beginning to end, but I never ran into that funny conversation with the roof guards.

I guess it's different in the full version. I never played the demo.
That conversation between the roof guards reguarding their respective employers is found in a mission called 'Life of the Party'.

How so? You should have bumped into them. In any case, you missed the best part of the whole demo imo. And Taffergirl, that conversation from "The unwelcome guest" is indeed different in the final version ("Life of the party") but horribly messed up, significantly toned down. The out of control/high-revving guard from the demo was fantastic. :laff:

Plus, to me at least, it sounded like one of the people from the Monty Python movies did one the voices. More so in the demo than in LotP.

It's hilarious in T1 Thieves' Guild when the two guys are trying to get into the Guild and Sutter asks them for a password. The first guy takes a step back in shock, and says:
"Reeve's BALLS, Sutter! It's me!"
Now I don't know who "Reeve" is, but if people are swearing by his balls, they must be impressive...

Regarding the LotP guard fight:
I've successfully managed to switch the "toned-down" voice in LotP with the "high-revved" one used in The Unwelcome Guest. I still thought the other guard sound better in the LotP, so I kept that one. Either way, it works like a charm. Problem solved.
That's what I love about Thief. More or less everything is customizable. The amount of personal preferences you can apply is almost endless.

I guess I'll have to play that demo again. I must have spent an hour just getting past the first two guards. I didn't want to use anything too fancy. After that I was eager to get on with it. Went both ways at the bank, but never ran into the argument.

Yeah, that T2 fight was classic XD
my personal fave, though:
(upon finding a dead body) "Aaawwww sh't... What happened?!"
oh, and anything said by "The shrimp" XD, especially with his voice file applied to a fully grown guard!

All the conversations between Benny and the Smart Guard in TDS cracked me up! Has anyone transcribed those? The one at the docks where Benny explains that the zombies might just be angry "on account of being wet" was priceless, and so was the on-going banter about Benny's wound/laceration and what should be done to it. All that stuff was hilarious. :laff:
