One of the things that always bothered me about the reviews of the Thief series of games was that the reviewers never mentioned (at least in any of the dozens of reviews I've seen) the humor present in these games.
Its one of the main reasons why I don't enjoy ghosting - you don't get to hear most of the lines in this thread.
The writing of these comedic bits and sayings is very, very clever - and one of my favorite things about the sound design in this game. Too bad it didn't get more notice in the press.

I partially overheard this one in Ambush!.
Guard 1: (Something I couldn't hear past the door)
Guard 2: What? Why me?!
Guard 1: The boss says his nasties don't get enough affection. You'll be down there, rubbin' their tummies...
Guard 2: I'll quit first! See if I don't!
In the same mission I opened a door near two guards in a well-lit room, and one of them said something along the lines of
"Someone's having too much fun here."
