I remember many years ago...when I first bought the game and heard these little sayings like (Come on out then.. etc)....I really thought they had caught me and I..for a split second.. thought about coming out of the shadows and give myself up...haha...
took a while to get used to them..what a hoot!

I get particular satisfaction when I knock out a Hammerite who's saying that.

Thief DS:
"Come on, out! We are friendly and don't know how to fight." - Guard
(I heard this in a FM. Two guards were searching for me in the shadows. Unsuccessfully.)
"I'll be home soon, drinking a good dark ale, forgetting about this place..." - Guard
(I'm not quite sure about this but I think that there were more words in this sentence.)
"These godforsaken boots. Why can't we go to work with our own shoes?!" - Guard
(It sounded like this. I cannot remember the right words.)
"Ruby ring and pearls for my ears..." - Sleeping Lady
"Hey, you look familiar." - Town's people
It would be nice if someone find the right words. :)

Ever since they brought in compulsory safety boots in the UK, more often than not at any venue we go to, I hear the security staff mumbling and grumbling about their boots. I haven't yet been able to pass one without giggling. :)

A variation from a thug:
t2_ycon_na2: "Hello? Anybody there? Don't be afraid. We're just a couple of friendly guys looking to (snicker) make friends...."

g5_idle2: "Oh...these godforsaken boots! Why can't I wear my own shoes to work? Huh? What difference could it possibly make?"
More boots:
g3_idle4: "Darn boots...stupid toe-pinchers...."
t2_cret_kil1: "Well, taffer. Now that you're dead...can I have those boots?"
g5_sle_idle3: "So tired...if it weren't for these taffin' boots, (yawns) I'd be asleep."
g4_idle7: "Must have been a mix up in the uniforms...pants feel...too tight...boots are loose... I'm gonna have blisters for sure..."
sg20704C: "New boots. It's gonna take me a week to break-in the cursed things. And until then... I'll be walking like someone's grandmum."

Thank you! :D These quotes make me laugh again.
Here are some more:
Yesterday I heard something like "you son of a DOG".
"You'll have to come down sometime, taffer!"
"I will get you, eventually."
"I will have you hang for that, you taffer!"
"OK, run! If I were you, I would run, too."

What thief are those from?
If it's thief 3 I never heard any of those... Well actually, regardless I haven't heard any of those. Except for the one about him walking around "like someone's grandmum." I know that was from thief 2.

They're from the T3 files. It'll be awhile before I can pin down which files are used in-game, or not, but they're in the install.:)
