hah, great thread!
anyways, once in deadly shadows, i was messing around in stonemarket, making war between guards, thugs, pagans and hammerites. and then it was thiss guard searching for me. and suddenly a thug comes from behind and stab him in the back. the guards go "is anyone there??". the thug keep hacking on his spine and the guard mutters "i wish it would stop..." then he died. another one was (it wasnt a guard though) a commoner who came running out of the stonemarket inn yelling "OH GOD YOU FOUND ME!!" wtf?? i didnt do anything.
and the moment i LOL`d loudest of all was when i threw a crate in the back of the head of a guard in the first mission in TMA. he didnt really do anything, he just mumbled "probably jsut rats"
what rats has these gurds encountered??? crate trhowing superrats or anything?

Not a guard quote, but it's one of Karras'. In soulforge when he's going through one of his nutty tirades atKarras, at one point he goes "PRAISE BE TO KARRAS!" and as an afterthought "and the builder." Just shows how he thinks of himself as a messiah.

Karras's mania's worse than that. He begins thanking the Builder, but as the story progresses he confuses himself with Builder, then at the end, he's praising himself and the Builder's an afterthought. He doesn't think he's a messiah 'cause he's not saving anybody and he knows it.:)

I like it in Thief 3 when one of the sleeping guards occasionally mumbles "I don't want any more porridge". It makes me wonder what's happening in his dream :erm:
And there's a sleeping Hammerite who says "We're running out of coal! Oooohh!"
In Thief 1/2 I'm sure one of the sleeping guards sometimes says "Taffer"

Yeah. Benny's the only guard that mumbles a wee bit in his sleep in the first 2.5 games. He snores, says "taffer", snores. And another time he snores, says "Builder", snores.:D
