They aren't guards as such, but I liked it in Dyer's Eve, when the female zombie says, "Do you think I'm pretty?" No, I don't, sorry. :nono:

Make a guard angry enough, and you get some kind of terribly long yell like:
"DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!"
Cracks me up whenever I hear it. 'course that turns it into a self-fulfilling prophecy...sorta.
Another reason why the guards in the Thief series are so funny is the fact that you can set such situations up yourself:
*tosses an oil flask in front of a guard on the docks*
Guard 1: "Whoa!"
*splash*
Guard 2: "What was that?"
*watches second guard run up to investigate*
*splash*
:laff:
Also:
*tries to sneak past a rat man and fails*
Ratman: "I will find you sneaksy man"
*fires a noisemaker arrow in the opposite direction*
Ratman: "Hah! Not so sneaksy!"
*watches ratman run off in the wrong direction*
*sneaks past*
