Hi, I'm new to the forum and I just thought I'd ask: Ever have a moment where you think a game is going to work a certain way and the game shows you something new?
I was playing Deus Ex when missile-wielding cyborgs were beating me in the streets of Paris like a rented mule, and I needed a way out bad.
I ran for the hotel knowing I would trigger an in-game cut-scene. I reach the front desk and, sure enough, my perspective changes to third person and the hotel manager exchanges pleasantries with me. Pleased at my old-school trick of forcing a game to interrupt my dire predicament, I relax from the keyboard and grab my cup of coffee.
Then I hear the sound of missiles being fired.
Explosions rock the the hotel lobby and I hear fixtures and furniture crashing around me. The hotel manager stops mid-sentence and the game returns me to first-person view. The manager and guests flee in AI panic, the cyborgs walk in and beat me like they were a cybernetic cartel, affronted by my gaming insolence.
The last time a game changed my assumptions was when the soldiers in Half-Life greeted me with smart flanking and hand grenade strategy.
In a game as smart as Deus Ex, I'm sure you've all experienced cool moments, more so than my little game-play quirk. Anyone else have a surprising gaming moment, Deus Ex or otherwise?

One thing that made me realize quite early in the game that it's something special was the first visit in UNATCO HQ: As so many others I walked right into the ladies' room and had a talk with the not-so-pleased woman ("You expecting a strip?"). And some minutes later (I had already forgotten about this little incident) I had to laugh out loud when Manderley told me during the debriefing that such behavior was an embarrassment to the organization :laff:

When playing for the first time, I failed at
saving Jock's life
. When
he was shot down
, I just sat there with an open mouth thinking: "This can't be" and " Bastards".
