Amelie
Pan's Labyrinth
Run Lola Run / Lola Rennt (Franka Potente <3)
El Mariachi
But if I had to choose just one, it would be Amelie.
Also seem to recall watching some french black and white film called "The hairdresser's husband" when I was a teenager, the primary motivation being that it featured boobs and we didn't have the internet at the time. Actually, it might have been in colour, but I only had a black and white set.

Yup, that's also a Patrice Leconte. I like the main actor, Jean Rochefort; he was also in
L'Homme Du Train and should've been Don Quixote in Terry Gilliam's
The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (see
Lost in La Mancha).

Yes, the full cut has been released and you don't want to miss out on it, makes one of the best movies ever made even better. And longer. A few lesser known ones that really need to be seen,
Propaganda (Turkish) <-good luck finding it call me when you do
Yol (Turkish)
The Circle (Iran)
Everything from Belgium made by d'Ardenne
De Bitterzoet <-good luck finding it call me when you do

Jesus, where do I begin? Probably about half the films I watch are not in English. I have a not insignificant hearing loss and I really love watching foreign films since it means I won't miss out on any dialog. I'm a little hesitant sometimes to put on the subtitles with English language films as I don't want to ruin the film for the other people I'm watching it with since subtitles can be distracting and downright hug and ugly at times.
Anyway:
Pretty much any Kurosawa. My favs being "Stray Dog", "Rashomon", "High and Low", "Sanjuro", "Yojimbo", "Ikiru" and of course "Seven Samurai".
Fredrico Fellini favs: "8 1/2", "La Dolca Vita", "Nights of Cabiria"
Ingmar Bergman "Wild Strawberries", "The Seventh Seal"
Herzog favs: "Aguirre, The Wrath of God", "Fitzcarraldo", "Nosferatu"
Randoms: "Rififi", "Le Samouraï", "Solaris", "Come and See", "The Lives Of Others", "Pans Labyrinth", "M" and I think I better stop now. :)

Let me guess, Angel Dust, you're also a big fan of the Criterion Collection... :D

Angel Dust: Least pretentious reason for watching a lot of foreign films ever!
I can't count the amount of people I've met who watch them almost exclusively, and can give you no decent reason why (other than vague dribble about them being more this or that or the other than english lang. cinema).

* Der Himmel über Berlin/Wings of Desire - An absolutely gorgeous film
* Spoorloos/The Vanishing - A great creepy-as-fuck psychodrama.
* Le Pacte des loups/Brotherhood of the Wolf - period romance meets horror meets kung-fu action.
Three favourites off the top of my head. There's tons more.

This was one of the most boring films I have ever seen.

I'd have to agree with you on that one, Fingernail, although I know a lot of people who love it. Even Monica Belluci's breasts couldn't save the film for me... :p
