Being popped out to Windows periodically. - by TheDorkProject

I'll be playing Arx and it'll be going fine, and then all of a sudden for no apparent reason I'm just back in windows, Arx is closed...
it's quite annoying, and happens without fail if I play for 10 minutes or so.
It's really frustrating, does anyone have any idea what I might do?

Ah, CTDs are frustrating... it's undoubtedly some sort of hardware or driver issue. I don't know if anyone can help, but you'll have a better chance if you tell us the details of your machine:
motherboard, cpu, memory, sound card, video card, windows version, etc
Try playing without sound (if there's a disable-sound option in the setup menu, that is -- I don't mean switching your speakers off :) and that should indicate if it's an audio-related issue (it's amazing how often this is the case).
Have you updated your video drivers? That's another common problem.

This happened to me. Installing the 1.15 patch stopped it.

Crashes to desktop (CTD) can come from many sources : either from the game or from some configuration problems with your OS or drivers, or from a hardware problem (usually too high overclocking).
But, since I finished Arx Fatalis (under Windows XP SP1 with patch v1.14 for Arx) without encountering ANY CTD, I think that there must not be many critical bugs left in Arx and then I believe that your CTDs are NOT because of Arx.
If you are overclocking your machine, I suggest that you reduce your overclocking. Otherwise, I advise you to change/update some drivers or reinstall your OS.
