When I rent a bed and then try to use it I am told that it is illegal to rest there? The same thing happens when I try to use a bed in one of the factions I belong to?

Use beds that arent in sight of anyone. In taverns if possible choose only beds that are behind a door. If an AI doesnt see you your safe.

Are you clicking on the bed instead of pushing "T" to rest? Pressing T within the cityimits brings up the "illegal to rest here" message. Also, be sure to go the bed that the innkeeper tells you to.

I have heard of this happening before, although I'm not sure what the fix is. Make sure you actually 'use' the bed, and make sure it's the right one.

I was not "using" the bed (seems perfectly obvious now), but hitting "T". I have finished the main thread of the game and I am moving on to Tribunal. Better to find out late than never. Thanks.
