I was wondering if anyone else has managed to beat the game without the wraithguard?
I found both Keening and Sunder and I left them in my stronghold until I realized what I had to use them for. Soo... I got impatient and grabbed both the weapons, as many health potions as I could and set out to beat Dagoth Ur.
I defeated him in two hits in the first area and ran over to the heart. I beat it with Keening, healed and managed to break the heart with Sunder without having to use any other potions. Then I ran for my life to get out of the way.
The wraithguard remains with Vivec and Dagoth Ur is dead. ... You can't go around expected everything to be impossible.
Oh and... I skipped a large portion of the main quest by stumbling on the Nerevarine Shrine place. Infact, I don't remember doing much else but handing the package to... that guy. Dang it. I knew I'd forget his name.
So that's a little shortcut for people as impatient as me, hehe.

I was very suprised to learn that it is, in fact, possible to just wander in to the Cavern of the Incarnate without any idea what's going on.

Eh... for some, the journey is more enjoyable than the destination. Besides, once you beat Dagoth Ur the game more-or-less stops making sense (some NPCs telling you Dagoth Ur is alive and well, etc). The above is like playing D2, using a hack to get stats, levels, eq, etc. and warping to Baal... gee, what fun.

Ahhhhh, so you have in fact followed the main quest all the way to the end at least once, then? No abusing of in-game bugs to let you defeat Dagoth Ur on that run? Cool ;)
