I'm a level 4 troll. It is interesting. With an ego of 50, and Douchebaggery of 16. :p

I think the Fap 'attack' (and the ASCII art) is hilarious.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGHHH!

I typed a long list of observations and hints, only to have it disappear into oblivion when my computer decided to shut itself down for some reason :/
Oh well, maybe I'll type it again later. For now, I'd just like to let you know that there is a TTLG clan on ForumWarz, which you're all welcome to join.

Hey send me a PM for tips and hints. Hmmm, a clan you say? :sly:

First of all, forget about balanced character development. This isn't a game where raising one stat first and another one later is largely a matter of tase, you need to specialise pretty much from the moment you've chosen your character class - and prepare for a world of pain if you choose the wrong path...
In the current incarnation of the game, by far the easiest class to play is the Camwhore. Devastatingly powerful attacks (Showing Some Flesh at first, high-level Textual Abuse later on) combined with very good ego regeneration capabilities mean that unless you make a stupid mistake, run out of sexiness-restoring drugs (quite often you don't need antidepressants at all!) and/or let both ego and sexiness run low at the same time, you are pretty much unstoppable - up to the point you can seriously consider deploying XSS while pwning a forum for the first time. Equipment is useful but not critical, then again with the aforementioned pwning capability and high initial Charisma you're likely to be rolling in Flezz most of the time. Keep your Offense rising and your stock of chemicals big enough and you're cooking.
The capabilities of an Emo Kid are a mixed blessing - while it can also pwn pretty hard, with all attacks of this class growing in power with dropping ego you'll be riding on the edge a lot (a pretty obvious hint here: don't invest in Defense much), regardless of how powerful your regeneration capabilities are (and they're much weaker than those of Camwhores). The key here is to, in addition to maintaining a handy stock of antidepressants of course, have your max ego as high as possible - the nominal value of each attack is fixed for the maximum, meaning the more ego you can lose without dying the more powerful you are. As for the equipment, Emo Kids are somewhat more reliant on it than Camwhores; as for what to choose, if you take the above into account the choice is not as wide as it may seem at the first glance.
Having chosen this class as my first, I'm sorry to say that Trolls have it the toughest. Their attacks are relatively weak and they've got no regeneration capabilities, meaning you have to rely on equipment and drugs a lot - except with low Charisma you can't count on Flezz from deliveries much. In other words: you cannot afford failing to pwn a forum if you've spent much resources on it. If you see things aren't going so well, retreat before you spend too much - at least you will get cred, which may help you upgrade before the next encounter. For the same reason, as a Troll you'll probably want to deploy XSS/FBO only on subsequent visits to forums. Last but by no means least, invest in Defense! You'll need it...
Keep an eye on the Ppwn Shoppe - every day there is some non-junk item or other available there, at a (sometimes significantly) lower prices than elsewhere. Trolls should take extra care to keep an eye on the Shoppe, as it's their only way of obtaining glasses and thus raising their Charisma.
The higher the value of your equipment the more it's going to cost you to fix it, so don't overdo it. On the other hand buying extra drugs while running with less advanced equipment may cost you even more than fixing the more advanced gear... If you have doubts, you can always try going in with older stuff first and bailing out to upgrade if things get too hot.
Make sure you deploy XSS/FBO as widely as possible. It gives you both money and access to new missions/forums.
If you have a choice between deploying XSS and FBO, choose the former. It usually pays better (even if only because you start earlier) and it's safer (no Defense penalty), not to mention that nasty little surprise awaiting the player after the second time FBO is deployed...
Barring fairly obvious exceptions, while dealing with non-player characters over sTalk be an honest opportunist. Got a chance of buying cheaper, illegal software instead of the genuine thing? Go for it, but admit to having done so if asked. Someone asking you about your sources? Spill the beans, you're likely to be rewarded. On the other hand what you do on sTalk doesn't seem to have a major effect on how the plot develops, so if you feel adventurous or want to experiment, other choices shouldn't hurt you (much) either.
Expect to be frustrated by Trapped in the Cupboard: the puzzles may be fairly simple but the lexical parser is fairly dumb, plus some of the score-increasing actions are extremely obtuse. Knowledge of R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet may help but don't expect wonders. Finally, if you've had enough of this game there a perfect-score walk-through on Forumwarz Wiki.
That's pretty much it for now. Good luck!

I saw this recommended on another forum, and have been trying it for a couple weeks now.
Neat concept, but I'm finding the meat of the gameplay-- pwning forums-- to be incredibly monotonous. The only strategy is making sure you're stocked up with enough "health" and "ammo" before entering battle, and the only tactic is making sure you don't run out of either. Bleah.
The sad thing is, it could have been pretty deep. They could have made you pick and choose (or run away from) battles with individual posters on each forum, instead of relegating them to glorified status messages. As is, it's like a dungeon crawl where each dungeon has exactly one room, with exactly one monster, and you just slap at each other until one of you falls over.

The posts you make are pretty funny though Zylonbane. (Well, as a camwhore at least)
Its not supposed to be a particularly deep game (although the competitive "domination" medal game seems pretty tactical, with most scoops, most of max flavour, and most of min flavour getting rewards from your bracket)
I am currently a little bit stuck with hardly any money, my equipment needing repairs and in debt to the tune of 1,000 flez to an annoying NPC. Oh well, should be OK to grind out of just might take a while...

interesting thought: is a troll out of his depth with regular posters trying to out-troll the very stereotype of trolls themselves?
discuss.
