Is anyone else getting the impression lately that "buglunch" is actually a bot?
Not so much, although admittedly these days, he's almost as monotonously predictable as you

Thanks to this thread, I spent 1.5 hrs reading about SG-1 on Wikipedia. Now, without ever having seen the show, I know all about the System Lords and the Nox.
I hate you all.

Yep, probably the best science fiction I've ever seen on TV. Luckily I'm not burdened with being a fan of the original. Cheesy, campy, made for children ... it was horrible. Yet, there were aspects of it that were legendary: the whole concept was good, and the spaceships--Cylon Base Stars, Battlestars, Cylon Fighters (don't get me started on the stupid-looking Vipers though, ugh), a few of the ships in the rag-tag fleet--some of the very best model making and ship design since Space 1999. Unlike a lot of remakes, Battlestar Galactica was an excellent choice to update. My biggest beef with the new show is the redesigned Galactica ship. I guess it's a bit more realistic--fewer windows, much more armored and battle-worthy--but still, I sure loved the original. Conversely, I like the new vipers a lot more than the originals. I think it's practically the same design, but there's just something about them I like more.
I don't have cable so I watched it when it was broadcast on NBC, then I rented the DVD, then I watched the DVD with the commentary. I found myself loving it more each time I watched it. Haven't seen the series yet but it just may supplant SG1 as my favorite series.
My favorite sci-fi rant: If they worked to make the show so much more realistic and believable, why why WHY do the space helmets have lights INSIDE, pointing at their faces???? It's like trying to drive a car on a dark road on moonless night with no streetlights, with the interior light on.

I like the fact that the vipers are steered using boosters.

Did you guys see the season finale?
Fucking awesome. I have never wanted to see the end of any show as much as I do now.
However (spoilers):
If the Old Man dies, I quit the show.
dont be so ridiculous - he's what the show revolves around.
however i have read some bits about next season, and all i'll say is remember how Gaius was told to get off Galactica as soon as possible, because something was going to happen?
well we find out what - the Cylons board the ship...
