I RECENTLY GOT THE MAXIM MAGAZINE WITH THE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA CHICK IN IT! It served me well for a while and then I realized how old she was and she looks like an alien.
How old is she?

Lol, usually I agree with zylonbane or at least find him funny. From what IVE seen, SG1 blows. Not to say I abject to his liking of it or his right to say so, but this is my personal opinion. It came off as cheesy and self important. The special effects in Farscape were far better IMO. As far as making fun of itself, I respect any show that can do this. I cant like SG1 for the one reason that SCI-FI raped Farscape and kept SG1. They cut it a season short and did a shitty mini-series. They got rid of all their decent shows and kept SG1 and even started spin-offs. Thats enough to make me hate it.
And BS, I pride myself on not liking things just cause I want to, I didnt feeel that DS9 episode was overly wet, just kinda fucked up.

ReapMyster, Amen.
Though they started raping the borg and turning them into wussies in First Contact. The borg queen was the worst idea ever, as was essentially turning them into vampires (though their 'fangs' were on their hands). Ugh. Give me 'Best of Both Worlds' any day.
Dude, wtf are you talking about?? First Contact was the only TNG movie I accualy liked. The borg kicked everyones ass's, they raped an entire fucking fleet. There was nothing pussy in that movie. They had the comical part on the planet that did well to releave moments of tension on the ship but still, that movie rocked. The borg queen was odd, not sure I saw a reason for her but hey, movies need bad guys. I would have been fine without her but it did make for somthing unexpected. Borg just own no matter how you look at them, and no less so in that movie.
NOTE: I noticed that reapmyster was talking about voyager, and in that sense I agree. They did make borg pussies. But in First Contact the borg queen was accualy kinda cool, she had good dialogue for the most part, and the actor that portrayed her was pretty good as well.

You've never actually watched Stargate, have you?
And stay out of Dad's liquor cabinet.
I'm referring to the original movie consequently wrecked by the series.
Saw the movie locally in a real theatre, boys= shiny and stupid with some good ideas wrecked.
Watcjed the TV show after it had been running for a while and it sucks.
You are assuming nonsense again about me.
It's the usual American find-the-bad-people and shoot them while being amazed at techno stuff and scenery and using gorgeous British Columbia and its people to make the usual shit.
CGI, RDAnderson hating our rain, bulgy twits and babes and weaponry and ignorant magic-tech and horrible writing.
Watch McGyver. Same Vanouver/Lower Mainlann, neat stories with little or no unnecessary violence.
SG movie was
okay.
Noisy shiny crap.
I buy my own Guinness, one a week: it's practically hallucinogenic when you have a clean diet like mine. I've said this before, won't say it a third time: I never get drunk ever any more don't post intoxicated on anything.
Impatience and assumption is
your intoxicant.

Conversely, I thought SG-1 took a trite, silly movie that wasted a cool premise, and actually made good on that premise.
Fans of Starship Troopers and Independence Day are free to disagree.

compared to the movie, the tvshow pisses all over it.
best sci fi currently running on tv at the moment is without a doubt Stargate - meaning both SG1 and Atlantis.
i havent seen much of the battlestar tv show yet though, so my opinion might change judging from the comments made here.
oh, and although i havent watched much star trek, i have seen a few episodes from all the series; and without a doubt the one on the space station, i think thats Deep Space Nine? - yeah, it pooped all over the others before shovelling said poop up itself and dumping it over them again.
fact.

crap CGI and really hammy acting.
Considering the rather low budget of SG1, I think the effects were rather good (and low budget or not, I actually like them very much).
Hammy acting? All other actors aside, Richard Dean Anderson's acting is top-notch (partially because he is an ex-mime).
too bad he won't be a regular in season 9 :(

I swear, I would punch you in the face if you said that next to me.
Stargate the movies was ART man, pure art.

Stargate (the movie) was shit. Intruiging idea, some potential, flushed down the toilet in the final half-hour, as I recall. (And I try not to recall very much of it.)
Stargate (the series) is very cool. It's not great, high-minded television, and it doesn't try to be. It's a bunch of guys goofing around, blowing stuff up, having a good time, and telling a fun story. As Zylonbane mentioned, "Wormhole Extreme" is a perfect example of why SG1 works so well - it never tries to be more than it actually is. (My personal favourite in that category, though, has to be Window of Opportunity. Imagine you were caught in a time-loop, where your day repeated endlessly no matter what you did, and only you and one other person were aware of it. What would you do? Now, what would you really do?)
If you want great theatre, go see Shakespeare. If you want an hour of whiz-bang entertainment that goes down easy, I don't see how you could do better.
