You're repeating yourself. Don't get all pissy at me just because the BSG finale blew chunks.
Chunks of Cylon ass all over the screen!

Bish bosh - Kirk saved the day yet again.
You have to ask yourself: in the same situation - how would Jean Luc Picard have acted? The same as Adama? I think not!
Fringe on 1/4/2009 at 22:01
Imagine that final attempt at a truce through Adama's eyes.
Your fuckup of a deck chief, who just recently murdered a friendly Eight model to help Boomer escape so she could kidnap Hera and make this whole damn suicide mission necessary in the first place*, spontaneously murders Tori in a fit of passion, thus ensuring that the Cylons can never recover resurrection technology. As a result of this, the truce is off forever and people start opening fire in your command center.
My question is: for what reason do you not shoot Tyrol in the head?
*And remember, Tyrol was in a cell at the beginning of the two-parter, so Adama knew all this.
fett on 1/4/2009 at 22:03
I like Tyrol a lot throughout the series, but he was quite an ass in the last few episodes. Prozac, dude.

Late to the party as usual; but I only just had the chance to watch the two part end of BSG. I was floored, and not in a good way. It felt as though Moore had run out of ideas and just typed a bunch of rather cryptic endings in the eleventh hour. I was really disappointed, to say the least. I guess maybe I was hoping for something a bit more substantial than 'There's a greater power at work here' stuff.

The downside of Moore's method of course is that signs and portents get thrown into the mix that then don't get explained satisfactorily. Like Hera's importance - she really wasn't all that important by the end of the series. Starbuck's status as "Harbinger of the Angel of Death" who was supposed to bring all the humans to their end. Now the finale argues that she brought them to their end destination so job done, but travel guide just doesn't quite seem to be what you expect from an agent of the angel of death....
Yeah; the above made points had me scratching my head, too. Crikey; Starbuck had a few minutes to say goodbye to Lee and then she just vanished? That was it? How exactly was Kara the Harbinger of Death that was supposed to bring about the ruin of humanity? And exactly how was Hera supposed to be the future of both species? Last I saw she was standing in a meadow looking up at the sky and then
zap! Flashforward 150k years. The two 'angels' in the flashforward mentioned something about having one Cylon parent and one human parent, which was already proven possible through Hera, but I hardly consider that enough to be considered the saviour of both races. That was another 'wtf' moment.
So; end result was that Baltar totally redeemed himself by going with the Galactica into battle against the Cylons & went off to live with Caprica 6 on the new Earth as a new and humble Baltar, the Cylon skinjobs never got their resurrection formula because Tyrol spazzed out & throttled Tori to death, Tyrol says fuckitall and goes off to live on an island, humanity totally gave up technology because Lee Adama said they should and it was decided that it was okay because it was possible to breed with the native species of the planet, the chrome jobs went off on their own to do whatever (which didn't bode well imo), Lee Adama decided to go mountain climbing, Kara Thrace disappears into thin air, Bill Adama flies Laura Roslyn around New Earth til she finally dies (and wtf was up with the prophecy that the dying leader wouldn't live to see Earth, just lead humanity there??? I thought that's what Starbuck ended up doing), then piles a bunch of rocks on her corpse and proceeds to sit on a hilltop and talk to himself, and Sam flies what's left of the Galactica fleet into the sun, having become a bastardized Hybrid. Seems like the only two who had even a semi-happy ending were Helo & Athena. Even if their kid was rather strange.
*sighs* I'm gonna have to go back & watch it again. Maybe I missed something.

Finally got around to watching this start to finish. On Series 2, mid way in.
I've avoided all the spoilers in the thread so far so please no spoiling if you reply to me. If I mention something that will all come clear just tell me it will clear up without telling me how please. I accept that I may be falling into traps, and I'll be happier if I've been fooled than if some of the issues I have with the show are as silly as they seem. I'm humble like that, see?
Ok.
1st off I'm finding it to be much, much better than the 1st half of series 1 led me to believe.
However, I'm finding some really odd "logical" inconsistencies. The main one being that the Cylons should ever feel fear or threat, or pain. The BSG crew treat the "human" Cylons like people. They hit them and expect them to hurt. Starbuck tortures that one guy even after the discussion about him turning off pain sensors (which at this point they may or may not be able to do - we can't tell). It made her look... thick.
The effect of BSG weapons on Centrions is inconsistent. The Cylon boarding party can only be damaged with HE rounds, whilst the Cylons on Kobol go down to Adama's pistol.
They destroy masses of inactivated Raiders and at the same time are scrounging metal for the new Viper. There's a lot of high quality Cylon metal AND tech out there guys. Bah.
The lack of attempt at diplomatic engagement baffles me too. Yes, I know the Cylons have all but destroyed the human race but no one questions their motive for attempting a total eradication by chasing BSG all over the place, and no one thinks to try and contact them to say "Ok, you win, we'll leave this area of space now and you can get on with it, mmmk?"
Finally the "racist" element, whilst useful and interesting in places, is a bit dumb. You can't tell me that none of the Viper pilots found Sharon hot (mm mm mmmm) before they knew. Besides, one night with Tricia would convert them all, women included.
A couple of notes regarding production. 1. Come on guys if you have a new human character out of nowhere of course we're going to wonder if they are a Cylon straight away. I know it's harder to insinuate them in early but not THAT episode! If it continues mystery will = 0. 2. WTF is with the "Next on BSG" spoiler montages JUST before we watch the episode? A few US shows do this. What gives?
And the blonde reporter with a South African surname AND accent? Caprica!=Earth btw. Was that a joke or a blunder?
