Obviously ZB, we wouldn't expect you to understand an allegory, as you've always been unable to understand anything that's not explicitly spelled out for you in blisteringly obvious detail.

That's the super awesome thing about allegories, isn't it. To the sufficiently determined observer, anything can be an allegory for anything else.
You have fun with that.

I dunno, 'God's behind it' was spelled out pretty explicitly over the course of the series, and he still seems to have somehow missed that.

Worst. Series Finale. Ever.
Opinion. Not. Fact.
I loved it, and in my opinion, one of the best series finales ever.

These aren't exactly subversive or maybe even original thoughts, but it's still remarkable that these sorts of things were able to bubble just under the surface without overwhelming the show. The subtle questioning of the political events around the War on Terrorâ„¢ were pretty well done, and like the plot points: it raised the questions, allowed for ambiguity, and didn't hit you over the head with trite answers.
I'm not sure if I'd agree with anything that's been said here. Probably my number one complaint about the show was that they were so ham-handed and overt with their parallels that you'd have to be a complete retard not to get it. Throw in the fact that the character's actions appear to be completely dictated by whatever was convenient for their allegory and suspense, not necessarily by whatever would have been actually in-character for them. In my eyes, I'd say that subtlety and ambiguity got thrown away in order to hit you over the head with as many shoehorn "ripped from the headlines" plots as they could.

Obviously not, since it didn't end with Adama flying his Raptor into the side of a mountain.

On the one hand, I'm being told that the allegories are so obvious a retard can get them, and on the other, I'm being told that they don't exist and you have to be really determined to imagine that they do.
So yeah, in the end, I'm pretty fucking comfortable that I'm on the right track by splitting the difference.

At no point did I say it was fact? I'm quite aware that it's my opinion, I was merely expressing my dislike. Because that's what the internet is for.

Now THAT would have been lazy and predictable. After everything they went through over the years, I think spending the rest of his life alone...in peace...would seem like a pretty good deal compared to the shite existence they had after the attacks.
It might be that since I have a background in acting, I can more easily connect to the characters, the situations they faced, and project myself into those situations and feel through how I would have reacted to years of exposure to that type of lifestyle. It was their last chance for any type of normal life. Adama flying his raptor into the side of a mountain is not something he would have done. I think Edward Olmos had something to say about how his character would behave in the end, and I don't think any of us know the character better than he does.
