Hey, obnoxious tiny-brained twattish person-- Nobody is ruling out the possibility that Starbuck is some type of Cylon.

As for Starbuck, she's obviously something special but she's not a Cylon.
You were saying ZB?

That was totally uncalled for; even from you.

What if Starbuck's a new Hybrid?:erg:

Whatever she is, obviously even the other skinjobs don't know about it, judging from the way Leoben tore-ass outta there when Kara discovered her own corpse.
I like demagogue's twist-theories. Also what Fringe said about everyone having a duplicate on Earth. Interesting.

Interviews with (
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2009/01/the-final-cylon.html) Kate Vernon and (
http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2009/01/final-fifth-cylon-ellen-tigh-battlestar-galactica-dualla-dee-.html) Ronald Moore
While it's possible that Starbuck could be some as yet unseen Cylon, I'm more inclined to think her resurrection is divine in nature. She might be playing the role of some kind of unwitting agent provocateur in this cycle of history to push it into the next turn. Leoben didn't precisely get scared by her corpse, it was her saying that what the Hybrid told her that did it.
The BSG universe operates under the premise that there's some kind of higher power that can directly interact with the physical world (proved definitively when Head Six lifts Baltar off the ground to confront the marine, clearly an invisible presence is lifting him)
You still need to explain how Starbuck's Viper crashed on Earth, they don't have FTL. Her reappearance at the Ionian Nebula, along with the fleet-wide power down that only ended when the Final Four outed themselves is a clear Something Weird Is Happening situation.

Thanks much for the links Tumbleweed. I disliked the Ellen character so much that I guess I couldn't stand the thought of her being the Fifth. I was rather relieved when Saul killed her off last year. Kate Vernon is a good enough actress to make you really despise her character, so I'm looking forward to seeing how she handles her role upgrade.
I'm also definitely looking forward to seeing how Moore resolves this whole thing with Starbuck. Though I'd be disappointed if he just writes her in as an Angel of God type of character; I'd rather she turned out to be a special kind of Cylon, as jtr suggested.
I was surprised to learn that as late as last season even Moore didn't have a clue as to whom the Final 5th would be. He sure made one hell of choice.

After five years of Moore making up shit as he goes along, how in gods' name can this surprise you any more? They didn't even decide that Boomer was a Cylon until the end of shooting on the miniseries. They hadn't conceived of the "final five" until they were starting to shoot episodes on the base ships and needed an explanation for why all 12 models wouldn't be wandering around. All this is nothing new.

Well, it's new to me. I've just watched the series ZB; I haven't looked for/read any articles, interviews, etc. regarding the show. Didn't want to read any possible spoilers, ya know? Seems like it wouldn't have mattered if I had. I did the same with B5, 24, Lost and a few other series. I don't want to know what's going to happen in advance. Not even hints.
Fan speculation is a totally different thing however.

Seems my post yesterday didn't go through...bleh.
Anyone remember that Tigh thought Ellen was dead until she showed up in a shuttle? Did she really just make it off the planet or was she resurrected somewhere?
Also
Did Kara do anything other than look at a dogtag to confirm the corpse was hers?
Can Hybrids even be resurrected? , I don't think they've touched on that at all.
Either Adama or Roslyn has to go. I don't think I can stand their 'thing' any more.
ZylonBane on 7/2/2009 at 05:07
Well, looks like Galactica: Insurrection is finally over.
Fringe on 7/2/2009 at 16:40
It started out well. The ending... not so much.
